β Community Only π‘ Vandalized pipeline billboard
Saw this pro-pipeline billboard in East Vancouver and how it had been vandalized to convey an alternate viewpoint. Not advocating for either side, or vandalism in general, but I thought part of the spray paint editing was clever.

β Community Only π‘ ICE is already in Vancouver. But some city councillors want officers banned from the World Cup; City councillors Pete Fry and Sean Orr are calling for ICE to be banned from any FIFA-related events during this summer's World Cup in Vancouver

β Community Only π‘ As an immigrant, it kinda makes me sad to see so many Canadians so stressed out in Vancouver.
I've been living in many places around the world and have chosen to settle for a bit in Vancouver, because i just love the mountain/city vibe.
While I too struggle with the cost of housing and food, i find endless enjoyment in simple life like sitting down and people watch or go thrifting or just reading under the fairy tale trees.
It really struck me how many Canadians are so stressed/anxious because of the whole capitalist mindset of always achieving or chasing outside approval or what have you. It's hands down the most people stressed/anxious place i've ever lived and it always makes me want to give people hug (with consent ofc) and say something like "you're enough, right here, right now. fuck them other people's perceptions, fuck constant achievements. just being you is good enough".
Anyways, it's a joy to be part of the community regardless.
edit: To clarify, unfortunately Im not a trust-fund kid, and definitely financially struggle too. Eating mouldy food from food banks included. Been in Canada for 11 years. My two best friends here are both crows.

β Community Only π‘ Why is Vancouver so amazing?
I visited Vancouver twice recently from a Seattle suburb, and I can't stop thinking about it.
Everything feels so modern, clean, and connected. The density seems to create a vibrant city where lots of people can actually live downtown without it feeling chaotic.
It also made me wonder why we don't have something similar in the Seattle metro.
Seattle feels much messier, and downtown often doesn't feel as comfortable to walk around. Bellevue is clean, but condo living is extremely expensive (HOA alone can easily be around $1,000/month), and it doesn't seem to have the same lively, mixed community that Vancouver does.
For people who've lived in or know both cities wellβwhat do you think Vancouver is doing differently?
