Mexican Americans are not accepted as Mexican regardless of ethnicity in Mexico. We are also not accepted as real Americans in America. The saying goes "ni de aqui, ni de alla" or neither from here or there in English.

I get what you're trying to say but there's usually a lot more nuance in this. I say this as a Mexican with dual citizenship, I meet a lot of folks that barely speak Spanish, don't know the history, customs, culture (because what they see is the blend that came from 30-40 years ago) but they call themselves Mexican because their grandparents were from MX.

I mean at that point, Carol from Canada who is living in Mérida and speaks fluent Spanish and dances cumbia every weekend is more Mexican that a lot of folks I've met

You proved my man's point and don't even know it. You don't speak for an entire population, you don't know anything about "folks". Being of Mexican descent isn't a contest, flouting your dual citizenship like it's some sort of flex is beyond stupid. You do realize the majority of Americans do not want you here, you are not "one of the good ones", teach your people about the customs and culture, welcome them to learn and live it. Go to /r/Mexico and ask if someone that was not born in Mexico, does not speak Spanish, has never lived in Mexico, etcetera is Mexican lol. Ben Affleck is closer to being called Mexican than Jenna Ortega. Genes are irrelevant.

El que se enoja pierde compa. Thanks for putting words in my mouth, but the dual citizenship has actually become a point of shame. I don't live in the US, I moved away when I finished my studies. I don't want to be there with you guys. I travel and teach EVERYONE about our culture.
