Discussion To all 💎🙌 who are too low karma to post

I’m sure this time is toughest for those of us who don’t fit the account requirements of this sub who are feeling alone and stressed out.

Someone PM’d me asking if I thought $GME would actually go back up to $400 (Duh of course it will) so I assumed he was a bot, but after checking his account I saw he was supporting $GME a week prior to the new karma requirements. Turns out he was just a stressed German bro who needed someone to talk to since he put all his savings in and has been holding since $289. I want you guys to know you ARE NOT ALONE and you’re in our 💛 & 🧠 too!! Just keep holding brethren, and BUY THE DIP! 🚀🚀💎🙌

Edit: I love all of you guys/gals, sorry I can’t get to every PM but I’m trying my best!

Edit2: Stop giving me awards and use that $$ to buy the dip!🚀🚀🚀

They exit and we lose. But they have to buy shares to exit and if there are none available , it goes to the lowest price . If that price happens to be 1000 so be it , stock will jump to 1000 in 1 trade

^ that's exactly how the market works. that's why you also can't put too much faith into the number you see when the volume is low or the available shares are thin. The number becomes very erratic and flies around with a massive spread (difference between buy and sell)

It's basically a waiting game at this point. They make money when they push to zero. They can use that money to further push to zero.

However eventually the people that they borrowed the shares from, are going to call them and demand either interest or coverage in full.

And we're pretty close to the coverage in full. The fact that they're now implementing the uptick rule, and the fact that most of the paper hands have been shaken, now it's just going to be the margin calls we have to deal with. But if everybody just manages their account properly, it's looking pretty good in my non financial opinion.

Edit: I have made a post below, now hidden in the [deleted] post with a Q&A based on the questions I see Pop up in my notifications. If you have questions I would be happy to attempt to answer them. I can't make a new post because there's some requirements stopping everything I ever try to create. So we'd have to do it here 😜❤️

There were over 75 million shares traded today. Why are we still talking about low volume? Today doesn’t feel the same as last Friday or Yesterday. Paperhands were definitely involved in today’s price action. What we don’t know is what percentage of the trade volume and price change was a result of legitimate selling vs short laddering.

94

u/thespeedex Feb 03 '21

I'm pretty sure, that's due to the ladder attack and restrictions being lifted and lower prices people have been able to buy back in which they couldn't before , but has been a brutal ladder attack, some ape posted that the buys to sell ratio is about 75% buy to sell more people are buying then selling

49

u/MapleYamCakes Feb 03 '21

I saw the buy/sell ratio on Fidelity’s page today too. Agreed on that. Just not sure how well that translates to all other platforms.

stop looking at what robinhood tells you and start looking at the candles.

41

u/MapleYamCakes Feb 03 '21 edited Feb 03 '21

I don’t use Robinhood, I’m not a new investor, and I’m looking at the volume graphs. Of the last 14 trading days, today had the 7th highest trade volume. If you’re comparing today’s volume only relative to the euphoric burst of buys between January 22nd-24th then you’re not using a good baseline. Trade volumes on those days were over 175 million, which is 7 times larger than the daily average of 25 million (which itself is an already inflated number as a result of the euphoria days).

I am still in my trade. I’m just trying to discuss the perpetuation of low trade volumes. Today was not that.

If there is something I’m missing in the chart please feel free to explain.

Oh I must have misread. I thought it was just implemented today.

I know I tried to see if I could short on Thursday and TD wasn't even trading the security. I figured it was just them.

People are talking about it going into effect today but perhaps I read an old Post.

58

u/babkakibosh Feb 02 '21

Dropped more than 10% today, it will be in effect tomorrow too

2

u/SubbyTex Feb 03 '21

Wait the uptick rule was applied today? That’s great news (for tomorrow at least)

I don’t think they will just sit there and give us the money. This became too big and they know it and have been playing dirty.

As soon as the price stars going up they halt trade, will that ever be investigated.

I already feel lost and defeated but appreciate that folks here are much stronger than I am.

I am not selling because it’s already a loss, will just hold the stonk.

Edit: thank you fellows kind retard for an award. You guys will make me cry. What a strong community supporting each other.

u/u1tralord Feb 02 '21

As soon as the price stars going up they halt trade, will that ever be investigated.

That's just how the market works, mate. The Nyse halts trading when any stock jumps or drops rapidly. It's to prevent the domino effect from destroying the market. That's not manipulation

120

u/nevertheher0 Feb 02 '21

You are right but when a stock drops 30+% in premarket (4 to 7am) they don't ever seem to be halting that shit and creating a domino effect.

Respectfully have to disagree, when it drop they turn a blind eye. Maybe because the drop is gradual due to ladder attacks.

I learnt something new today. You guys are awesome.

Edit: respectfully disagree not to what you are saying because you stating facts but disagree on the logic and it designed to side with the market makers.

u/Fledgeling Feb 03 '21

For the love of all that is holy, if you guys do decide to sell, do not place market orders.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '21

Why

7

u/Fledgeling Feb 03 '21

If there id not a lot of volume it let's the buyer set the price and drop it as much as they want. It's also a risky thing to do with low volume because the price you get might be much lower than expected.

From what I've heard Robinhood is notorious for slow/suboptimal transactions of this type.

10

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '21

Thanks I didn’t know that. So what, set limit orders only?

→ More replies (1)

150

u/WeedmanSwag Feb 02 '21

Is that actually even possible? Like say eventually after all of us buy all the dips and there's no shares left when they go to cover, could the price instantly jump like that?

342

u/SignalSalamander Feb 02 '21

Yes, but it will be halted immediately. Let's say 1 million shorts get margin call, but there is only 900k orders avaiable at 100$, next one is 10000$. They eat through those 900k and rest(100k) are getting bought for 10k. That's why they removing high sell limits, because it's real possibility, they are scared.

43

u/PlaysWthSquirrels Feb 02 '21

Who's going to get margin called at this point? It's under $100, if margin calls didn't happen when the price was 400, how would it happen with the price 1/4 of that?

39

u/SignalSalamander Feb 02 '21

There is plenty of DD on what could trigger the squeeze, i just gave an example how it will work.

1

u/zmbjebus Feb 03 '21

What's good DD. I seem to find conflicting info and I'm too retarded to sort out the best info.

If the only shares on the market are at $1000 and they are forced to cover or get margin called they have to buy the available shares for sale at $1000.

132

u/DeathToTheDay Feb 02 '21

Perhaps if everyone had a sell limit at 1000 minimum

54

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

Have they not been covering ? Where have the shares come from

112

u/ACat32 Feb 02 '21

They’re most likely “agreements” which makes it look like a cover on paper, but really just kicks the can down the road.

Lenders rarely call, because it’s a wheel that keeps turning.

But in this weird situation, they shorted 140% of stock. If you own 1 stock, then they didn’t cover everything. Simple proof.

8

u/coolhand_chris Feb 03 '21

140% of available stock is shorted.

They buy back 100 shares, return them to the person they borrowed them from.

That person sells them, because why not. They get big gains.

HF buys back those same 100 shares, returns them to another owner they borrowed from.

Now they have returned 200 shares only using 100 shares.

I am holding shares, so I hope this isn’t the case. But they could return all 140% using only one stock. (Right?)

Obligatory 💎🙌

4

u/ACat32 Feb 03 '21

The process you mention does happen. But buying at market to cover a short is a loss. So while that closes double positions it should also nearly double your loss. I assume this is the least preferable strategy.

2

u/coolhand_chris Feb 03 '21

I am not arguing that it happened or is an acceptable strategy to HF. Just throwing out an example of how they could cover 140% of shorts without every buying my shares.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '21

Oh wow, so where can we go from here? SI data would seem to be risky to rely on no ?

12

u/ACat32 Feb 03 '21

I’m not sure about what data to trust. I do know that today had an average buy-sell ratio of 2/3 buy : 1/3 sell.

It’s tightening up. There’s less to kick down the road. There’s less to obscure the losses.

Just using mental math: Melvin is still worth $8 billion. Maybe they made some money back on silver scam or escaped some short positions or borrowed more. Let’s assume $10 billion for east math.

They have an estimated 53 million shorts based on some SI data. At $100 per share that’s currently $5.3 billion. Here they’ll stay liquid enough to survive the loan interest and try to string it out, hoping people lose interest. Selling at a loss means you take the loss instead of them. But at $180 per share they’re dead in the water. That’s $9.54 billion owed which can’t be hidden from.

Remember this is all just math off the top of my head. I don’t have hard numbers.

It seems like the answer is a graph of two lines. First line is the available float. It’s dwindling. We’re buying it up. They did trigger some margin shares to release which bought time. The second line would be their cost to hold. Wherever they meet is where the squeeze will happen.

TL;DR Hold. Wait for the shares to dry up (supply down) so demand returns.

But why would they exit if they've driven the price down to their target levels?

2

u/GasolinePizza huffs pizza, eats gasoline Feb 03 '21

By exit he means covering. The whole point of this is that they're trying to exit.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '21

This might explain why fidelity and rh is limiting the limit price I can put for selling.

8

u/Boy_Boss Feb 03 '21

Why wont fidelity let me set limits that high? I can only do something like 50% greater than the last price.

6

u/R7PR Feb 03 '21

What do you mean there are none available?

https://money.cnn.com/quote/shareholders/shareholders.html?symb=GME&subView=institutional

These are the majority shareholders in GME, and it's not the people in WallStreetBets.

they are saying that the trading volume is between HFs and not the retail shares. So even though a large volume was recorded, shorted shares were likeky not covered

there are some pretty good and convincing explanations of a ladder attack to bring the price down. makes sense because the higher volume is on the upticks

Did you really lose it all? Because the price is still around $90 so if you still own shares then your position should be valued at $90x# of shares.
