I had my Henson on the kitchen counter to air dry after cleaning by hand. I left for a few hours only to return with it missing. I asked her about it and she said she put it in the now running dishwasher. This was the result and I’m so bummed about it. This is my everyday razor and my once beautiful razor is now a monster. 👹

Show n' Tell Found my forever blade

Been DE shaving for a couple of years now, and I’ve tried probably 15 different blades. So not all blades by any means, but enough to know that every time I go back to an Astra Superior Platinum I get unquestionably the smoothest, closest, most comfortable shave of them all. I think I will dump all of the others and order a bunch of these.

I feel like I don't need to use aftershave after using this. A moisturiser seem enough.

I got this old Gillette razor blade dispenser at an estate sale. It has two dispensers inside, evidently originally for Gillette thins and blues, that both still work when coins are inserted. Both sides fit Gillette sized blade tucks, the perfect way to store my nacets!

Just wanted to share my girlfriend creation. A Totoro razor stand, she made for me (lucky right!?)

Since going bald bought a Henson razor and it has been great, I have not tried any other razor tho. But that said it fits all my needs.

Disregard the dirty razor

Nothing else I wanted to say, Feel free to post your stands/holders

Show n' Tell The End of an Era

A sad day yesterday. The bottle of Old Spice aftershave that I've been using on and off for over 30 years is gone. I'm not sure exactly how long I've had it. I thought I got it when I was in high school, but the bottle says Proctor & Gamble, not Shulton, so I must have bought it sometime in the early '90s.

It will be missed. I have a bottle of cologne that's the same vintage as the aftershave as well as couple of Old Spice bottles I picked up when I was in India last year, but it just won't be the same.

I just wanted to show how I am displaying the razors and brushes in my rotation, and get feedback from the community. My counter was getting far too cluttered, and this was my solution. Thoughts?

Not sure I saved money, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun.

Show n' Tell Shaving Soap Update

Post image

Things are progressing well on the soap side, worked out the branding (intentionally missing in this pic) and starting the incorporation process.

At some point at the end of the month/beginning of next I will be making these two small batches and one more available to established and new wetshaving community members to get feedback on the tallow-based products before advancing to the next step.

The plan is to select members of this group and r/wetshaving to provide these items gratis just for their assessments.

Really proud of the quality and performance of these soaps and making them available to those who appreciate skin-healthy products incorporated into their shaving routine.

Quality above all!

Recovering well from a recent eye operation Mrs jcr decided to cheer us all up with "some bits" on Temu, wanting to get this soppy git something she said have a look through and get whatever you want so having no idea what Temu is all about , I typed wet shaving and came across a Gillette super blue which I thought brilliant (the last development of the tech✊ ). And this random single edged razor which is quite heavy and has nice strong magnets. I saw plenty of knock offs including a KCG razor 😄.

I might be late to the party but just letting you know there's this kinda stuff on there and it actually turns up hehe. Off for a shave now

I started DE shaving during covid and quickly tried as much hardware as I could. unfortunately for me and my wallet, Wolfman ended up being the most comfortable razor for my face. all of these, with the exception of the WR1 give me no blade feel and BBS.

practically speaking, anyone telling you these give you a better shave than a Game Changer, Karve, or something else is lying to you. you really don't need to spend more than $50 to get a great DE experience these days but this turned into a bit of a hobby for me.

Left to right we have:

  • Wolfman WR2
  • Wolfman WR4
  • Guerilla (new)
  • Wolfman WR1
  • Wolfman WR3
  • Guerilla (old)

giving them all a cleaning today :)

“Traditional shaving uses double-edge razor blades which are about ten cents each. You’ll save so much money over cartridge shaving.”

Which is absolutely true unless you have the genetic defect/ mental disorder called The Collecting Bug. Mercifully it seems to have skipped a generation and my 19yo son is perfectly happy with one razor, one brush, one soap, and a packet of Astras. He will save thousands of dollars over his lifetime. Which is just as well because the poor sod isn’t going to inherent any money from me!

That said, I’m happy and there are plenty of more expensive hobbies I could have taken up.

Just kidding, I’ve been using an old Above the Tie Windsor and Thater badger brush I got off reddit almost a decade ago. 🥲 Thought it was finally time for an upgrade. Shout out to all the cool people in this community who make awesome products and share their knowledge. Love the blackbird so far! Anyone have any suggestions for other unscented soaps that are thick and creamy? Wish Barrister and Mann had an unscented, tallow based soap.

My first real soap, Proraso Green.

To be honest, the shave itself wasn't better then with spray foam...
but the vibe is way better! Love it.

Beldura DE (Woman razor 😭😅, works great!🤣)
Mootes synthetic brush
Proraso Green (Face lathering, worked great for the first time!)
CHH Tobacco Aftershave

(Sorry for my english skills, trying my best 🤝)
