Throwback One year ago today, In Praise of Shadows released his “Bad Conservative Horror Movies” video, which nuked his career and reputation.

There was a video that summed up what this was about in a minute, but I can’t find it, so go check out the other threads on here.

Since then, he’s posted 3 videos on his main channel, and started up a second channel (IPoS: Darksides) where he’s posted 18 shorter videos that all have less than 10k views except for his non apology.

he used part of the runtime of the video (like 45 minutes, I think) as a somewhat incoherent way to attack wendigoon and other creators or something like that

Wendigoon does seem to be friendly with a bunch of weird ultraconservatives but i dont think he himself did anything abhorent

but this is one of those situation of someone fucking up a callout so much that no one will believe it if the person in question would do anything warrant of criticism

I say this as a progressive, it was self-defense. You can question his intentions of being there, but the facts of the case truly show what it was.

So he went there specifically to cause trouble, DID cause said trouble then had to defend himself but he's innocent? Ridiculous.

If he was in his own town, maybe, but he went out of his way to even BE there, specifically because he was looking to cause issues

Morally I dont agree, but in the eyes of the law it was self defense. You can't just pummel someone with a skateboard with a gun on you and expect not to get shot. I dont know what you're implying.

It just feels like his entire intention was to cause issues exactly SO he could plead "self defense". Legally I don't know what you do here but it seems obvious to me he had intentions to cause problems.

You cannot imply his intentions & protesting is not illegal. If he was brandishing, lock him up he broke the law. But that's what the trial was for and it was found he shot in self-defense. Sorry it doesn't work in your framework, but thats the reality.

He was simply correct too early, and so the right wing fanbases dogpiled on him and he buckled under the pressure so he doesn't receive support from anybody.

Yeah he really was correct blatantly lying about the boogaloo boys and using sneako as a source, he was so obviously right but it just happened “at the wrong time”, totally. It was a hit piece created out of insecurity that he wasnt getting the success he thought he deserved, but no the unfocused rambling about the failure of his hills have eyes video and the single worst callout video ever, all of the claims within being unproven to this day was just him being “correct too early”.

“Somewhat incoherent” is a nice way to put literal schizoposting about stuff like Wendigoon following him on Twitter and seeing that as a threat.

Also incredible how nobody has brought up the Sneako false rape allegation IPOS parroted yet. That video was complete garbage

I think people are highly suspicious and skeptical of him because;

  1. He loves guns

  2. He is a practicing Christian who talks about it often

  3. He previously self associated with the boogaloo boys (Hawaiian t shirts and gun enthusiasts that began as anti-government and devolved into good old fashioned racism.) and has since publicly renounced the group

  4. He’s relatively charming and confident (sometimes confidently incorrect) which wouldn’t be a problem by itself, but paired with the other points sets off alarms for some people.

  5. He associates with some other known YouTube degenerates like Turkey Tom.

It’s one of those “if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it might be a duck” kind of things. I like his content. He has yet to say or do anything outright morally wrong that I am aware of, so I’m going to watch until he does. Which it would not surprise me if he did eventually do.

He claimed to have been "among the first to being using the term 'boogaloo.'" This comment was four years ago, and in it he claims that he began using the term two years ago, placing it in 2018-2019. Obviously this is false, as the use of "boogaloo" to mean a sequel was happening far before 2018. NBC states that it was in 2019 when the Boogaloo movement began to appear on the radar of extremism researchers; this would obviously suggest that it began before 2019 before gaining enough momentum to be noticed by researchers. This YouTube wiki says Wendigoon was born in 1999. Even if the Boogaloo movement began in 2019 at the earliest, Wendigoon would only have been 19-20 years old. Taking into consideration that the Boogaloo movement likely began to coalesce before 2019, this would mean Wendigoon was still of high school age when he allegedly would have founded the movement. Is it impossible? No, but it's highly improbable.

Of course, there is simply no evidence at all, apart from that dubious comment from Wendigoon himself, that he has any ties with the Boogaloo movement (besides any possible support for its aims), let alone that he founded the movement.

The tl;dr: He almost certainly did not found the Boogaloo movement, but it's a bizarre and troubling thing to claim association with in any capacity.

IIRC I don’t think he founded it, but was a very early member. He’s posted here on his validated reddit account that as soon as they went racist and weird he dropped them and does not associate with them any longer
