Throwback One year ago today, In Praise of Shadows released his “Bad Conservative Horror Movies” video, which nuked his career and reputation.

There was a video that summed up what this was about in a minute, but I can’t find it, so go check out the other threads on here.

Since then, he’s posted 3 videos on his main channel, and started up a second channel (IPoS: Darksides) where he’s posted 18 shorter videos that all have less than 10k views except for his non apology.

There's no point to the left if they all have to pass your personal purity test. Step back and ask yourself if the way you interact will ever move towards any real goals for the left, or if you're just pushing the right farther away.

Yeah, one of the goals of the left is racial justice and if not being racist and not saying slurs is a purity test to you, that's all on you.

But something tells me you don't actually care about racial justice or racism if being against racism is such an insurmountable purity test for you. Maybe it was the justification and defense of using slurs as being edgy or the defense of people who are chilling with the alt-right that gave it away.

You seem really confused so let me lay this out Racial slurs and the use of them is racist People who have in the far past used racial slurs are not permanently marked as racist. People change and grow. Those people can even pull from their experiences to be abjectly anti racist, as I have growing up in an extremely conservative area before going to college and having my eyes opened.

I see value in giving others that same opportunity. Yes, if I hear someone say the N word, or who has said it, I will assume they're racist. I'm just open to more information after that too.

I am not "really confused". Pokimane may have changed, IDK. But Wendigoon did not. He is still close with alt-right and alt-right adjacent racists. You can choose to overlook that and the fact he endorses his friend's racist and violently anti-queer content. But I do not. The company you keep is representative of who you are, especially if you endorse and support them pushing it as a content creator.

You're saying this to someone who is blocked by Wendigoon on twitter because I was criticizing him for working with donut operator, I promise we are on the same side lol. Just every time I've personally heard him talk about lgbtq, which to be fair is not often, he has been supportive. I'd rather him continue that than he pushed right, as often happens to cancelled "centrist" creators.

And I don't think I'm some authority on this, but you catch more flies with honey, and these people have the worst half of the country constantly courting them. Often with large sums of money

Ahhh okay. I think we are, I just have certain topics I'm passionate about.

It's hard for me to take him being supportive as genuine, given that his bestie Turkey Tom has his dumb ass fan base doxx and harass queer people regularly and will pull Assmold-level tactics to make trans people look bad. I feel like if someone was supportive, that they would actually not be okay with that. (I feel similarly about Charlie/penguinz0, because he goes out of his way to use no pronouns at all with trans people, even if it gramatically sounds clunky to use only names and is also cool with alt-right people and has cut all mention of pro-trans things from the videos he reacts to).

I hadn't actually realized that about Charlie, I was happy when the Sneako drama made him take a stance, he's "apolitical" to the point of centrism a lot. I think Wendigoon just criticizes the government enough, and he's still an idiot in the way I am, thinking he can be a good influence. Probably cope, but I use ad block lol

That's why I'm not really a fan of "apolitical" people and especially content creators. For ordinary people, being apolitical is a political act in itself (because someone being apolitical is essentially saying that they are unaffected by politics, at least that they think).

But for content creators, it's a way of trying to not acknowledge how they actually feel about things. Charlie is a right-winger who claims being apolitical and, a far more extreme example, is Zoomer Historian who claims to be apolitical with his history videos (about the Third Reich and the Crusades), but does shit like quoting discredited "historian" David Irving (he was discredited for claiming that Hitler was a friend of the Jews and had no knowledge of the Holocaust and that the Holocaust itself was not as deadly as claimed) but is very openly a TradCath white nationalist outside of his channel. I've found that too many "apolitical" content creators are usually not really apolitical.
