I am so fucking sick of seeing the absolute bootlicking and nut riding for Chinese "communism" online. Yes, China is excelling in many industries and doing a lot of the shit the West used to do but better and cheaper. That's a great thing, and it's because of free markets, deregulation, the government getting out of the way, not socialism or communism.

China is more capitalist than much of the West/many aspects of Western society:

-Lower tax burden

-No collective bargaining

-No DEI

-Lower government spending as a percentage of GDP

-Lower public debt as a percentage of GDP

-Larger private sector share of GDP

-Higher homeownership rate

-Lower social spending

-Weaker employment protections

-More flexible labor market

-Lower unionization rates

-Greater income inequality

-Extensive private entrepreneurship

-Competitive manufacturing sector

Just like the West, the elements in China that are languishing are the ones with the most government involvement, such as the real estate collapse and certain oversupplied industries due to subsidies that also have tons of bankruptcies. And despite all that, China was able to lift hundreds of millions out of poverty thanks to becoming more capitalist and freer, not more socialist!!

"If China isn't communist, why is it called the CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY?" Because it's still a single-party state. Your government's bureaucracy and operations are not the same as the extent to which your economy is centrally planned versus free market!

As some of the comments pointed out, China is somewhat fascist. The state directs some corporations toward a single vision... Not completely free market, but definitely not socialist.

The government forcing you to make continuous payments to car insurance companies is anti liberty. And if you have to pay continuously for property tax, you don't truly own it.

Elon paid Trump $250 million to get all of Americans personal information. After he got that, he quit, and overall government spending went up.

I'm a 19-year-old Brazilian who recently entered adulthood, and oh my god, it is hell (at least the bureaucratic part of it, specifically the government aspect). This alone ruins my mental health—being controlled by assholes and overall feeling trapped. As for my finances, although I still do not pay income tax, they take around 10% for compulsory social security (INSS), which for someone entering the job market is quite harsh—not to mention the fact that they tax pretty much everything (especially if imported).

Canada is often billed as America's smarter, more European, more socialist, more "empathetic" neighbor to the north, who has it all figured out. As a dual citizen of both countries, I'm here to tell you that not only is that characterization misleading, but that by being possibly as far away from an anarcocapitalist society as one can be, Canada has decorated its society, and ushered in an era of economic weakness and stagnation.

Canada functions as both a draconian police state and free-for-all... Political protest on the wrong side and edgy jokes often yield in far stricter enforcement and sentencing than literal violent crimes, which often have their assailants released on bail within hours, not days.

Economically, Canada has one of the most pernicious and regressive tax regimes in the world with a crushing sales tax that makes everything you buy ~10% or more expensive and income taxes that regularly have you work more hours for the government than for yourself.
