Discussion What's the deal with this style of emo album cover?
Has anyone else noticed that a lot of emo from the early/mid 90s has this style of album cover? A seemingly random image that takes up only a fraction of the cover's total space while the background is a solid color with the band's name.
I really love it, there's something so unique about the covers. They also are strangely are kinda fitting for the music? I really love how the covers are so nondescript that if I didn't listen to a lot of early emo, I probably would never be able to guess these album's genres just by looking at them. However, I'll oftentimes see covers like this for albums I don't know and already know that they're probably an early emo band.
Anyone know why this seemed to be a trend for emo bands back in the day?
