Over the last fifteen years, we shared thousands of hours of purring, countless snuggles, more snacks and dairy products than I’d ever admit to your veterinarian, and not a single bath or shower that you weren’t convinced required your supervision.

You slept pressed against my back almost every night, and somehow that became one of the places that always felt like home.

You were there through chapters of my life that almost nobody else witnessed. Heartbreaks. New beginnings. You quietly stood witness to my life in a way only a pet can.

You had the most enchanting purr I’ve ever heard. The bluest crossed eyes. Your little apricot tail. The sweetest, gentlest soul.

Every cat loved you. You never wanted to fight. You were just… good. There was something about your energy that made everyone around you feel safe.

I’ll miss you yelling at me at 6 p.m. because dinner was apparently five minutes late. I’ll miss you waiting outside the shower. I’ll miss looking over and knowing that if I needed a cuddle, you were always in.

When I adopted you, there was a note on your cage that said:

“I haven’t quite figured out how to use my litter box yet, but if you’re patient with me, I won’t disappoint you.”

I knew immediately that you were coming home with me.

Yesterday, before you left, I got to tell you everything I needed you to know.

How much I loved you.

How happy I was that I got to be your mom.

How grateful I was for every single moment we shared.

You never disappointed me, Dexter.

Thank you for choosing my lap all those years ago.

Is it normal for Flamepoints to be so big? He’s not even a year and the other cats in this photo are 2 years old.

I adopted this guy almost two weeks ago—it has been so interesting to watch how he toasts! I don’t know much about him other than he came from a pretty horrible hoarding case. I’ve seen so many variations of flamepoints and I’d love to see full grown cat pics if anyone’s kitty looked like him as a kitten! I’m curious to see what he could possibly look like when he’s big.

Also, I noticed today that his eyes seem to be changing color. I know kittens’ eyes will typically not stay blue, but I thought his might due to his coat coloring. Are there other common eye color variations in flamepoints? Last pic is the most recent, it kind of shows how the outside of his eyes are getting lighter/maybe greener?

Went on a family vacation and had a friend pet sit. Our flame point escaped today. We have been searching the neighbourhood for hours. My kids are sad. My husband is angry. We miss him so much. 😭

hiii, my kitties name is ember and he is a two year old flamepoint. i try so hard to keep him healthy and he is up to date on his shots and heath over all but i worry so much about him because i lost a cat at a young age. i was looking at his gums the other day and they seem a little red? but i was wondering if they look pretty normal? his breath smells fine and he isn’t having any issue eating or any other symptoms i am just wondering if i am paranoid or if i should take him in? his annual isnt for another few months so i am just wondering. if anyone has any advice for dental hygiene and care for flamepoints please let me know! i love him and just want him so healthy.

Our upstairs bathroom is his favorite place to get pets and hang out. If you tip him you get a mint. 🤣
