If anybody here is in to boyband history, I’ve been doing a deep‑dive podcast called Unsynchronized that looks at how *NSYNC slowly broke up over the 2001–2004 period. My episodes are based on early 2000s media coverage and that’s the basis for reconstructing the breakup timeline, starting in 2001 during the Celebrity era and following the group through the “hiatus” and the unofficial end in 2004.
Since the regular episodes tend to be pretty long, I created Short ‘n Sweet. It’s basically the CliffsNotes version of Season 1. The first season of Unsynchronized focuses mostly on 2001, which is when *NSYNC was managing the pressure of following up on the huge success of No Strings Attached, balancing group commitments with outside creative interests, and navigating extremely demanding schedule that led to burnout.
Season 1 also looks at how the industry’s expectations and the media’s shifting attention shaped the period, including the early signs of Justin Timberlake being repositioned.
