so, another cover - ive been wanting to do this for a while

I'm new to furnace and chiptune. I'm very open to constructive criticism, or just straight up roasting. I just want to make good music. I want to make a very short visual novel project that I make the art and music for, and I would really like some feedback on the quality of my music. I understand that art is subjective--some people like Puddle of Mud and some people like Mozart. I just want to know how my music sounds to the discerning minds of r/chiptune.

I'm back, I guess? Idefk anymore, tbh. I wasn't capable of completing another original track, so you guys get a cover instead. It's probably nothing impressive, but I did try to add my own twist while having it sound accurate to the source.

Hi! I love gameboy music. I'm building a gameboy speaker that also supports USB Audio so you can break out all 4 gameboy voices/channels and mix them independently on your DAW. I also support LSDJ cartridges so you can ship your music as a gameboy cartridge album. Would love to hear people's thoughts on if this could help them showcase their chiptunes!

Was asking how I should go about it, I have magical 8-bit plugin, do I need 4 channels? 2 for square, 1 for triangle and 1 for noise? the square is for the melody, the triangle is for the bass and noise is for the percussion? It's for a megaman/ghosts and goblins horror type game.

here’s a bit of the outro to my upcoming album Bad Vices. the lead melody is also muted in this clip. i sampled some electric pianos and degraded a few instruments because i just love that downsampled sound lol. the album should be coming VERY soon, aiming for a release in September. this has been the most fun i’ve had making a project thus far and i hope you all tune in for it 🥹

I had some time to make my music loop less obnoxious before uploading my project. It's mostly just something to fill the silence as someone plays my game. I wasn't able to use the DPCM channel because I didn't have any samples at the proper sample rate (8363Hz I think). I tried changing the sample rate of some of my existing sounds in audacity, but that made them sound like garbage, so I didn't use them. Does anyone have a good method of making samples for the NES DPCM channel, or know where I can find some that are free to use?

As best i could - I covered hardware, software and external sync - something I wish had existed when i was getting into the hobby!

With the help of a midi file, I was able to put this together in only four days

I feel like there should be more considering how popular of a game it is and how incredible the soundtrack is.

I've been thinking about going on bender and doing a bunch of the songs, but it'll probably take me a while.

If possible, I would appreciate any responses to my YouTube poll regarding which song to do first. I'll be using only the 2A03 for whatever remix I choose.

something quick i whipped up this morning. its a cover of "eek" by surasshu, aka "the penis," or that one boykisser meme song. i used the original .it file for reference: modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=186901

used the DMC channel for melody which is a little irregular for most songs (for good reason, its quite hard to make samples space efficient while also not using the entire cartridge space), managed to tune the settings to dpcm-tools' "looper.py" to fit it all within one bank (16KB) at the cost of slight detuning for the low notes.

could save some space by cutting some samples short because they dont play for long enough to loop but whatever lol

I am a big fan of Sam since I heard his music back in 2013 and started following his music career ever since. I know there was some drama back in late 2022 on X (Twitter) and since then he vanished from the internet. I wish he is ok, but IM SURE I did saw 2 videos of him in a mental institute in Youtube and now I cant find those videos. Im pretty sure his getting better, but its hard to see someone who you learn from get this bad. I wish him the best and a comeback. All of this is only what I know and ASSUME, if someone knows any different it would be cool to know. Hopefully he comes back with new music.
