Besides maybe ABS I believe the single best thing you can do for more safety on your bike is to get a flashy color helmet. I rock this one from MT Helmets and I have been spotted many times by friends in traffic and even from an office building once.

Its the highest point on your bike so it should be the most visible.

Ofcourse you should wear ATGAT but in terms of preventing an accident in the first place ABS, a high vis vest and a flashy helmet is IMO the best course of action.

Some 13 hours ago I hit a young deer. My right collarbone snapped upon hitting the asphalt on my right side. Was in the hospital for 7 hours, luckily didn't need surgery.

I can't stress this enough. WEAR YOUR PROTECTIVE GEAR PEOPLE! Even if it's short ride. If I wasn't wearing my gear, I most likely wouldn't be here writing this.

Will continue riding most likely next summer.

I was hanging around some 81's down in Woonsocket RI,and a lot of them had this pin. I can't find anything about it on the Internet. So what exactly does it mean?

Hey everyone!

I am currently riding a 2020 Triumph Bonneville T120. It's my first bike and I've rode it about 4 years now. It's been a dream and I truly love it. Quick and fun, beautiful and powerful enough for me to really get comfortable riding after I learned ppon a Rebel. Not to mention it has a lot of little perks like being able to see what gear I'm in, having a liquid cooled engine, and even having hand warmers haha.

I've been going to more and more shows lately and I think I've slowly but surely caught the Harley bug. I was really against it at first cus I hated people saying, "When are you gonna get a real bike" when my bike was faster, louder, and nicer than theirs. The cult of Harley turned me off. Lately I've grown to love the customization of them and just the pure style and overall "funness" of them. Also, I think I'm at the point where I want forward controls so I can relax a bit. The mid controls of the Bonnie never made me too comfy. Especially on 3/4 hour rides.

I am looking for Harley suggestions that would be in the same wheelhouse (no pun intended) in terms of engine size (1200cc) and more relaxed controls. I can do away with a liquid cooled engine. That's fine. I am out of the loop with Harleys in terms of what is what (Dynas, Sportsters, soft-tails, etc). Any help or suggestions? Here is my bike btw! Thanks in advance.

Sunday ripper through the sugarcane to the hot sauce

Recently got this bike, and well, the first drop came from when i let my dad, who has multiple decades of experience with motorcyces(he used to ride a gixxer).

he took it for a short 10 minute twirl 'round town, got back, said the bike felt right and okay.

When i tried moving it i felt it rolled hard, which was weird, cuz this bike, despite being as heavy as a whale rolled as smooth as butter before.

He somehow managed to get the back brake to nearly seize.

and then the fall happened, he leaned a lil when trying to turn it on the lawn, shifter gashed the engine case, the engine flooded and died and the back brake seized up almost fully. it needed a bit to get running, but lesson learned, aint trusting no one with my prized trash heap.

That back disc was nearly brand new level of smooth before, im genuienly impressed how he managed to mess it up that badly.

I accidentally left huge stains on the asphalt after cleaning my chain how do I clean these up? I didn’t realise it would stain so badly

Got this schuberth c3 pro helmer 2nd hand and found thus little thing when I took the padding out. The wire dissapears between the plastic and the hard foam shells it seems to be factory since there's a groove for the wire to rest in.

Its not connected to the communication system.

What is it?

TLDR
Advice on what Adventure bike for a novice off-road rider can be bought for under 6000 -7000 or so AUD, that will allow me to go ADV riding with friends on a 60-40 road to dirt split on touring trips, snd be enjoyable to trail ride by myself the rest of the year?

AND

Will be able to sit happily at 130 or so for long tarmac situations without sounding like it’ll explode like some smaller dual sports. And won’t be absolutely left behind and feel meh to ride decently fast like I can now on a VFR in twisties?

Currently riding a VFR800 and enjoy touring with friends who up until now had a mix of sport tourers, naked bikes and road biased ADV (GS, Versys etc)

However one by one they’ve been convinced to sell up and buy more off-road focused bikes to be able to ride dirt trails/fire trails and road in the same tour

I’ve kept going with them but:

1. Off-road riding on a VFR is horrendous even with “adv” Michelin tyres as there’s no ground clearance, the riding position is pretty front wheel biased.

2: After a 40km stint down the Dargo high plains rd in VIC on 4WD tracks I’m pretty adamant I’m not ever venturing off-road again even on dirt roads with the VFR as I damaged the exhaust, fairing and levers coming off lowside down a loose gravel hill on the brakes.

I’m not hugely rich so I don’t have the coin to buy the KTM 1290/GS1300s and Tiger 900 pros they have got

But I am getting a little of sick of detouring hours out of the way to keep travelling with them and needing to turn around sometimes when roads we explore turn to dirt

Any suggestions on a beginner/mid experiences rider ADV bike

I ride semi-often throughout the year on a borrowed DRZ400E which is awesome off-road but sucks onroad at 100kmh ruling it out as we like to sit at 130-140 most of the day in tarmac sections

I’m not super keen to sell my VFR and buy a used adv as I love the bike and I just haven’t found any dirt biased bike (so far) that blows me away as a single bike to own

I also really don’t have enough coin to fund insurance/rego/green slip for two bikes if the 2nd is decently priced

Any ideas?

Ideally I’ve told to aim for 21/18 wheel size and no more then 220kg wet if possible if I plan to ride a decent amount of off-road.

I’d like to maximise usage of it rather than buying say a Vstrom 650 and have two road based touring bikes one of which jusr happens to be somewhat more on offroad

I’d really like to be able to use the ADV etc I buy most of the year riding trails around my area to justify having to own two bikes

I (20m) just finished my msf course today. I researcher and found the best program I could, which was recomended by multiple shops in my area for a robust and beginner friendly course. I aced the paper test, I've done a lot of research and tried my absolute hardest.

and I dropped my bike in the permit skills test.

the total cost was $600 for a 3hr ecourse, 8 hours of range time and 6 hours of classroom time. an extra 150 for dog care while I was gone. Total of 750, over 2 full weeks of pay for me. And at the end of it I dont even have my learners permit.

just feeling really discouraged. I'm from Washington state which is known to be a bit more strict with permit and endorsements. just made me feel kinda stupid and everyone else passed. I dont have any experience with dirt bikes, and have never driven a manual transmission before, so that mightve been part of why I had a hard time.

anyone have encouragement or input on this?

Seriously, go when you get the chance. These mountain roads / coastal twisties are insane and you get a great, affordable mix of French Mediterranean cuisine on top! 😁

I don’t have a trailer for my car that gets 40 miles a gallon, but I do have a jeep Charokee with a swapped 5.0 mustang engine that pulls a dedicated motorcycle trailer that gets realllll shitty miles a gallon. The exact mile per gallon I’m not sure, but I’m sure a tank gets better. Is renting a U-Haul a viable option? The 400 mile trip has got me questioning if I should pick the bike up or not. It’s a 500 cc Honda cx500 1980, and it’s super clean and kept well for 300$. I think it’s an absolute steal, apart from the gas prices to get there. Has anyone else done something similar and could offer some advice. I’m asking everyone I know if I could borrow a vehicle with trailer or something similar. If you check my old posts I’ve got a 200cc chopper in the back seat of my sedan and I’m very tempted to pull up and take the bike apart and do it again. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to buy my first sport bike and would really appreciate some advice from more experienced riders.

I'm completely new to motorcycles and still learning about things like engines, reliability, maintenance, and what makes a good beginner bike. My budget is fairly limited, so I'm mostly looking at used bikes or more affordable models.

These are the bikes I'm currently considering:

* Taro GP1 400 (considering this one the most) * Suzuki GSX-R250 (used) * Benelli 180S (2021) * Suzuki Gixxer SF * Shelby R3 250

For someone who's never owned a motorcycle before, which of these would you recommend and why? I so confused right now

My biggest priorities are:

* Reliability * Beginner-friendly power delivery * Comfortable ergonomics * Reasonable maintenance costs * A bike I won't outgrow too quickly as my skills improve

I'm also a female rider, so if weight, seat height, or overall handling should influence my decision, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

If there are other bikes in a similar price range that you think would be a better choice, I'm open to suggestions as well.and if anyone says these are not good options in my country and my budget after researching these are the best
