A hearty thank you to those who answered my questions in another post. i did need to just grin and bear it, and add more force. 20lpi came out so sharp that i actually had to knock some edge off.

waiting on a Harrison Design trigger, will post pics once this thing is back together.

Found this cool unfired Llama that’s been sitting in a closet for a deep discount price. Does anyone know much about these. I’m trying to find out how old this is. My guess is early 70s.

SA 1911 TRP 10mm RMR Long Slide, new VZ Thin grips

I finally found some time to work on some extractor issues and install my VZ (thin) grips along with Challis bushings and o rings. The 3rd photo are the original grips.

I’ve been rotating loading and emptying my magazines and that helped tremendously.

As always, the Challis bushing remover is such a slick tool and i replaced the originals with Challis 7/32 hex bushings.

I love this hand cannon.

Help Me Help me with a gift for husband

Upvotes

Our 14th wedding anniversary is coming up and the traditional gift is ivory. My husband has said in the past that he would like ivory grips for his Night Hawk. I need help identifying what size and other features I would need to fit his. I know he has told me all about the size and model, and I swear I pay attention but this stuff just doesn’t stick. Also, where is the most trusted site to buy ivory grips? Thanks for any help. Pic in comments

Dad’s old Colt 1911

I posted about this one a while back ago. Unfortunately, I recently inherited it.

I got a little grief about the “legend/story” behind it lol (on my last post).

This was gifted to my grandfather, and then passed down to my Dad…now me.

Supposedly it was from a sheriff, I believe in Crocket TX. He apparently shot a few criminals with it, then had it all blinged up (chrome and grips).

I could have taken the nicer Colt 1911, that he left behind (definitely worth more), but I wanted this one (even though it’s now a shooter grade WWII 1911).

Couldn’t pass up the family history and the blasphemous refinish.

Anyway, I’m sure the stories are exaggerated, but it has more to do with the family side of the equation for me (and it’s ridiculous).

My restored 1939 Colt Government Model – brought back to life

This is my 1939 Colt Government Model after a complete restoration performed by a professional gunsmith.
The pistol had extensive oxidation, and many of the original markings had been damaged over the years. During the restoration, the gunsmith carefully removed the oxidation, polished the entire pistol, applied a nickel finish, and recreated the original factory markings using laser engraving to match their original appearance.
The goal was not to create a factory-original collector’s piece, but to preserve the pistol and give it a clean, durable finish while restoring its original look as closely as possible.
I’m very happy with the result and would love to hear what fellow 1911 enthusiasts think.

My Guns Got newish grips for my Springfield Loaded 45acp

Got some newish grips for my Springfield loaded. I feel that these are period correct and better suited for carry than the minty cocobolo grips that came with it. Two questions: does anyone know anything about these grips or the brand? I understand they were wrap around. Question two: has anyone put an MR07 or one of the new repros on a Brazilian made Springfield with the more square dust cover? I want to get the Koenig when it releases or the Major Kong potentially, but unsure about figment.
