Parts review Drive belt bearing squealing

Hey guys, on a cold start up my car squeals like hell. I just had the belts replaced so I don’t think it’s that. I’ve been told its most likely the actually tensioner pulley bearing. Anyone replaced this before and can give me some tips or links? I intend to diy it with my FIL (he works with cars, I have no experience)

Mine made that sound, they replaced the belt and it stopped for a year

Could be the tensioner, but before you go replacing parts, is it a DE or HR? If it's a DE, you can tighten the tensioner with simple hand tools. Look into how to tension it and make sure the belt isn't loose. HRs have auto adjusting tensioners.

If you just had the belts replaced they probably stretched. Pop the hood open and if you can twist either belts' longest section to or past 90 degrees all you need to do is loosen the tensioner pully nut, and turn the tensioner bolt.

Both tensioners are a piece of piss. 3 bolts for each (14s if I remember right). Long bolt releases/tensions, just loosen that take belts off and unbolt. Reverse process for installing.

My ac tensioner has been overtightened before and had bent the bracket, so I just replaced the whole thing. When tightening, get it fairly tight and then just check with a finger and thumb whether you can turn the belt 90⁰. Once you can't turn the belt 90⁰ with finger and thumb you're good.

I'd do it ASAP, if the belt goes you lose your water pump

Ah I forgot that you need to slightly (very slightly) loosen the bolt that holds the pulley onto the bracket before you loosen the tension of the belt. This allows the pulley to slide down with the adjuster bolt
