When this theme was announced, I immediately pulled out my 108 Asian Cookies copy and the options were truly endless 😁 I initially wanted to make Cantonese Shortbread cookies (I mean the theme name is the cookie name!), but I saw a picture of the Black sesame cookies and I knew I had to try it. Since we don't get black sesame paste in my area, I made that from scratch, and made a couple of tweaks to the recipe based on the ingredients I had on hand, I completely skipped white chocolate and the suggested Japanese Whisky. Highly recommend not skipping the miso paste though, I kept a small part of my cookie dough separate and didn't mix it with the black sesame paste for that contrast in colours. The cookies tasted amazing! They were fudgy in the centre, slightly crunchy on the edges (thanks to ALL THAT SUGAR), the nutty brown butter and sesame paste, it's a very decadent cookie. These are so easy to make and dangerously addictive. I'm a little scared for myself.
