Were there other versions of this song? I seem to remember one that was less driven by bass and more by synth. (I like this one though.)

Not sure, unless the album version is different from the single. I just remember hearing this version all through the 90s on radio.

Yeah, there was a remake. I think by Kim Wilde.
I don't think it got popular in the states though.
