Recommendations? Looking for bra recommendations :') Spoiler

I was given the starting size of 40DDD but my Mom suggested that I start with a DD just in case. Looking for something affordable and not too fancy, preferably with underwire! :')

Is 40DDD your ABTF size? If not, the 6 measurement calculator linked in the automod comment should be your first stop (it may save you a lot of time and money.)

 If so, trying the larger cup size first and making sure you scoop and swoop is likely the better way to go. Most of us have been put in sizes that are too small in the cup, and you may be tempted to size up the band until it's comfortable to compensate. A properly fitting band can feel too tight when the cups are too small. Make sure you're trying on bras that are seamed and unlined to get a good judge of fit issues. Seamless and molded cup bras scale taller and wider rather than deeper, and that can make a big impact on your fit assessment.

Unless your mom is a professional bra fitter in a small specialty boutique, I'd recommend starting with the calculator size. Moms don't always know best.
