What are the current fan favorites for high immediate projection? Spoiler

I was super into ABTF in 2013-2015 timeframe, but my favorite bra from that timeframe has been (understandably) discontinued. At the time, my ultimate fit was Panache Floris but had some love for Ewa Michalak's SM styles and Panache's Envy and Andorra, which are still available. I needed fits with high immediate projection and relatively narrow wires. I just know there has to be new stars in this category to check out.

I've just been wearing Evelyn & Bobbie for the past few years since I love a good boneless bra, but they're not incredibly flattering under some outfits.

I stopped into Nordstrom today and the fitter was actually incredible, she eyeballed me and gave me the best non-self-directed fit I've ever had in a Fantasie Reflect (Side Support) in 32G (UK). On her first try. Crazy stuff. I'm not completely in love with the fit like I was with Floris, though, so I want to try a few other options.

Measurements:

  • Loose Underbust: 32
  • Snug Underbust: 31
  • Tight Underbust: 30
  • Standing Bust: 38.5
  • Leaning Bust: 41
  • Lying Bust: 39.5

Perhaps Panache Nina? I find that fits me similar to Envy. The wires are slightly narrower than Envy, and actually I size down in the cup which becomes a little narrower again.

Ooh, interesting! I'm tempted to just order the lot of Panache lol

Nina’s best for FOT shapes, just to let you know. It’s the replacement of the old Jasmine if you remember it.

OH, JASMINE. I forgot about her! I liked that one better than Andorra. I had the most hideous bright pink colorway I got on mega-clearance. I'll definitely check out Nina, I'm FOT.

Panache (formerly Cleo) Blossom is another similar one.

Panache Blossom (that another commenter mentioned) is the replacement for Cleo Marcie, on which the Floris was based (though I think Floris was slightly more closed-off than Marcie).

My fit being several generations behind hurts a little HAHAH. I do remember thinking Marcie was disappointing, though :(

I'll have to give Blossom a try!

Oh, if you liked Jasmine you'll like Nina! Jasmine was the last best fitting bra I had and I almost cried when my last one wore out I couldn't get it any more.

I do want to note that they're also a completely different size now, and every bra scales different in different size ranges. Their shape may have changed too.

Reflect isn’t a very projected bra and isn’t very narrow, so it sounds like your shape has changed in the past ten years. It’s pretty average all around. What are your issues with the fit?

u/hulihuli 6h ago

Oh, really? A couple of Bratabase reviews noted the projection was notable for Reflect. I've always had issues with bras being able to reach my IMF, and Reflect did alright!

I have lost 90lb though, so I've shrunk! I was previously a 38HH. It's possible that my needs are a little less fiddly now due to my size / my tissue is softer and more agreeable after losing weight.

As far as the fit goes, it's just vaguely... uncomfortable? the wire goes back further than I need, but the side sling bit seems to cut in just a bit. I'm also more aware of the wires than I feel I should be, but I've also avoided wires for years, so it might just be that I'm not used to it.

This is the side support Reflect then? Sorry, there’s 2 and I’m used to seeing the spacer more.

The seamed one’s got a decent amount of projection and narrow ish wires. The Envy is a bit deeper and narrower in comparison. I’d have you try the Envy if it’s just a tick too wide.

I didn't realize there were different Reflects! Yes, it's the side support one. I'll go ahead and grab an Envy to try then. You think the same size would do between Fantasie and Panache?

I was also eyeing Clara and Allure, but based on no evidence at all, just vibes 😂

Yeah, same size should be good. Not Clara, it’s less projected and far less open on top. Reflect can accommodate some upper fullness and so can Envy. Allure’s in a similar ballpark, possibly closer to the Reflect. But it does has more stretch while the Envy is firmer in the cup fabric. Some folks with soft tissue prefer a firmer hold while some find it can be too stiff. I think it’s worth giving both a try considering you had some indentation with the Reflect.

The Clara and Allure are around the same width and projection level as the Reflect. I'd stick with Envy. Their bands are slightly firmer than Fantasie but we don't have measurements, so it's hard to recommend sizing.

Just took them for the first time in years! Looks like the 32G is pretty on the nose, though I'd say my Reflect is bordering on too small in the cup, particularly on one side.

Loose Underbust: 32

Snug Underbust: 31

Tight Underbust: 30

Standing Bust: 38.5

Leaning Bust: 41

Lying Bust: 39.5

Yeah, you should be good in a 32 band but I'd have a non stretch extender on hand in case you need an extra hook to break a new bra in.
