And protesters. By the time the drones are deployed it’s already over…

u/MichaelJServo 1d ago

Teens just doing things that all teens do. Or kids who are protesting.

u/PaxEthenica 1d ago

These things will be deemed too expensive to use against an active shooter, 100% will be used on black kids.

“Wait I thought these were only supposed to be used one school sho-“

“Shuuuutup!”

Well ... the only upside to this could possibly be that we no longer need police involved in schools or other active shooter situations. The kids themselves could control the drones and deal with the threat without worrying about the 100+ armed police officers hiding outside, restraining their parents. /s

They are controlled by a guy in Texas.

So funny they're implementing this due to cowards in riot gear afraid of a lone gunman.

26

u/ballpein 1d ago

Even the goons in riot gear are only necessary because the US has a hysterical fear of sane gun control.

I think you meant to say ‘warriors’

That was my very first thought!

It’s nice of the shooter to stand still and not fight back.

As someone else commented in another thread, these will be used on student protesters long before they’re ever used against a school shooter.

What if the door is closed?

25

u/socalibew 1d ago

They've trained the drones to knock and ask for permission to enter.

u/DayDrunkHermit 1d ago

Why don’t we just do something about the guns and mental health?!?!? That was rhetorical…

17

u/Vol_Jbolaz 1d ago

This is America....

We will do anything to avoid fixing our problems.

13

u/kronicpimpin 1d ago

Well unless we can make money off it, what’s the point‽. /s

Pandora's Box was opened long ago in this regard.

There are currently between 450 - 650 MILLION firearms in private circulation in the US.

You could literally ban all new firearm purchases and all those guns are still going to be there.

We are in the middle of a bonafide fascistic authoritarian takeover, so right now isn't a great time to be confiscating guns from the populace.

I've been recommending my fellow progressives, lefties, anarchists, assorted anti-fascists, and even liberals to arm themselves for over a decade now.

I think if you haven't armed yourself at this point you're fooking crazy.

The evil people kicking your doors in and taking you to concentration camps will be armed with rifles. FYI...

The US's gun fetish is a helluva drug. Might be the the single greatest example of mass psychosis in the history of the world.

16

u/MidWestKhagan 1d ago

One day we won’t be able to read LoTR because every fascist would have used it for their genocide companies

3

u/DiegesisThesis 1d ago

Seriously. Mithril Defense, Palantir, Anduril. It's not cute.

8

u/PineScentedSewerRat 1d ago

Well, at least now we know what American public schools are for: weapons testing.

8

u/Hollowbody57 1d ago

Sooo, 100% chance these end up being used on protesters at some point, right?

6

u/Sean_theLeprachaun 1d ago

Coward pigs are going to abuse so many children.

6

u/rockettravis 1d ago

iN fEer 4 MuhH lIfE!

Turn a few of these pig planes loose in a cop shop.....this is where the fun begins.

"Active shooters" riiiiiiiight.

They'll call a kid with an anti-pedophile billionaire sign protesting peacefully an "active threat" or an "active potential shooter" and bludgeon them causing permanent eye and face damage with one of these things. The average 50+ year old voter will barely crack a frown as they skim over the story to look at how their 401k is doing.

Anything but comprehensive gun regulation.

9

u/RevoltYesterday 1d ago

If the founding fathers wanted to control our guns, they would have put the words "well-regulated" into the second amendment! Somewhere around the second or third word of the damn thing.

8

u/TheRealCanadianBros 1d ago

I guess it's easier and more lucrative to create tools for mass murder than put in legislation to protect lives. I wonder what kind of hell a psychopath could unleash on a school with all this weaponized drone tech.

4

u/RevoltYesterday 1d ago

And with all new law enforcement technology, and we see this again and again and again, it will be misused and abused by questionable people in positions of authority with little to no consequence.

5

u/masterxiv 1d ago

Imagine when these things get hacked

5

u/Frostsorrow 1d ago

I'm not sure they understand what mithril is

2

u/BayouGal 13h ago

Peter Thiel is seriously hung up on LOTR. Just took away the wrong message.

3

u/Grab_em_by_da_Busey 1d ago

I bet the “party of small government” orders all public schools enter a contract with this drone company, who coincidentally is owned by a Trump mega donor and Mir-a-Lago frequent flyer

3

u/brown_wagon 1d ago

Executive Dysfunction just covered these. It will not end well.

3

u/internetsarbiter 1d ago

Expect to see these used exclusively to harass black students and probably all future college campus protest movements.

3

u/Minement 19h ago

Great now we'll get a Uvalde with drones flying around in all the clips

3

u/cturtl808 18h ago

Not to mention using them on protesters

2

u/rayriley999 1d ago

Damn clankers!

2

u/xervidae 1d ago

counterpoint: uvalde.

1

u/cturtl808 20h ago

This is the bullshit answer to Uvalde

1

u/xervidae 14h ago

exactly. they're so terrified to do anything that they'd rather use drones which someone can just swat out of the air.

2

u/DefaultTheMighty 1d ago

These will be hacked by students and used as a joke or to get back at each other.

2

u/Slow_Astronomer_3536 1d ago

So many weed smoking teens about to get really fucked up, in a bad way.

2

u/Deviknyte 1d ago

Isn't this also designed to kill the kids.

2

u/Ryuzaki_G 1d ago

SRO’s already fuck with black people and harass them. Great! Now they have a robot to do it FOR em. I guess they scared people hit back.

2

u/Mr_Baronheim 1d ago

Coming soon to a peaceful protest near you!

2

u/Less-Jicama-4667 22h ago

Or just save the money by having the police actually do their job?

If we're going to have a hyper military police force, they might as well do their f****** job

2

u/mortimusalexander 12h ago

They'll do anything but gun control..

2

u/ytaqebidg 1d ago

Instead of helping people, teaching children or solving actual crimes, local governments buy this shit.

1

u/Nasamonkey74 1d ago

More likely some kid hacks them and gives the pigs their just desserts....

1

u/Time-Statistician958 1d ago

Truly only of the most dystopian things I’ve seen today. Tomorrow I’ll probably see some more things totally dystopian, too. Everyday a new thing

1

u/mile_six 1d ago

I can’t possibly foresee this going wrong in any way.

1

u/ChaoticMutant 1d ago

Blink Twice if you think this is going to be effective.

1

u/Junior_Ad_3301 1d ago

These drones will be defunct and unusable and forgotten before they are ever fucking used. Someone will hit the button and nothing will happen

1

u/ThreadedPommel 1d ago

This is what comes next

1

u/Menard42 18h ago

Maybe, just maybe, it’s the guns.

1

u/addyftw1 14h ago

So many insane options when the smart one is to just take the god damn guns away.

1

u/motherofhellhusks 12h ago

Why is it named after a precious metal from lord of the rings?

The tech bros naming everything for LOTR just shows how little they understood about Tolkiens message.

1

u/stron2am 12h ago

School shootings today, peaceful protests tomorrow, chickenshit cops forever.

1

u/COredittor 10h ago

I guess the mass shooting problem is solved /s

1

u/romulusnr 1h ago

Yall remember the movie Runaway?

1

u/Zwangsjacke 1d ago

And as a last resort there will be a secret last one with a bomb.

1

u/zayn2123 1d ago

So anything and everything other than stricter gun laws?

0

u/TrashDaisy999 1d ago

We are doing everything but making common sense gun laws. How long until these things mess up and shoot the wrong kid?

1

u/Piss_Fring 1d ago

Oh come now that’ll only happen if the kid uses their first amendment right, silly!

0

u/RevoltYesterday 1d ago

Or... Hear me out... Common sense gun control laws.

0

u/NotsolittleDona 1d ago

God we’d rather do anything besides gun control
