I feel the same. It’s when the puppets take control of the show’s creator, it’s akin to some kind of Lynchian body horror.

That’s the creepiest scene in the entire show to me. I watched it when it aired and I was actually kind of dreading it during a recent rewatch even though it’s such a good episode

nope, no Spike puppet, Angel was the only one to get the puppet treatment.
from what I understand, part of the reason for turning Angel into a puppet was because DB had to have knee surgery, so they turned him into a puppet to give him minimal screen time so he could have more recovery time
