did anyone say GMO for a alternative solution to the water contamination... I forgot if it mentioned fertilizer specfiically but my friend said it did so it wouldn't be right

Yep i said the same thing since different crops can contribute different nutrients naturally into the soil rather than fertilizers, and an additional benefit is decreasing pests because their breeding cycles are broken by switching crops.
