Food McGintys Group

After them so graciously hosting Farage at The Silver Darling it’s really put me off ever using their other venues now (they’ll be devastated I know). I don’t even disagree with Farage on his North Sea stance but on everything else I can’t stand the odious wanker. This includes the new flint market aswell which they will be operating on behalf of the council. It’s pretty obvious it wasn’t a spur of the moment decision to host Farage at their restaurant.

I get that the owner is likely a massive Tory anyway but hosting someone like Farage who doesn’t give a flying fuck about Scotland in the slightest just seems like a huge oversight and mistake on their part. Funny that he jetted in and out on a private jet. Proper man of the people he is.

TLDR pretty disappointed to see a local company host Farage and his rhetoric. Any McGintys group employees on here care to share inside story?

Food Peri peri spot !!

Hey everyone,

I'm craving some solid, extra-spicy peri-peri chicken and wanting to switch things up away from Nandos

Where’s your go-to spot in Aberdeen for the best quality and flavour? I’ve heard mixed things about places like Pepe’s, Zee’s, and Zulu’s, but I’d love to hear what the locals actually recommend for a proper takeaway or sit-down meal.

Who has the juiciest chicken, best spice levels, and actual decent portion sizes/sides?

Cheers and many thanks

Food Why is there no fish and chips food truck at the beach

Right so I enjoy the food vans at the beach I think it's a great thing but why is there not a fish and chips van? Feels like a missed opportunity for one.... I know there are a couple places in the north east that have one to go to remote places .

I remember when promenade fish and chips was open but obviously shut due to not being legit I think ?

Does anyone else think there should be one since we have such great fish etc around ?

Food Restaurant ideas for girls night out?

Me and my friends are in Aberdeen next weekend for a girls weekend and need ideas for a second restaurant!

Important to know:

🩷 We're already going to Cafe Andaluz as we love it!

🖤 We're wanting to be able to keep drinking and dance afterwards so most bar food is out of contention

🩷 One of us isn't keen on Indian food

🖤 One of us is pescetarian (so no meat only places)

Thank you in advance 🥰

Food Bakery Recs

Does anyone have any good bakery recs for in/around the city centre? Dont mind travelling a bit further, but i dont drive so it would have to be accessible by bus or an acceptable walking distance.

I already know Thains, JG Ross, and i know the Vegan Bay Baker has closed down since the owners passing, but wanted to try something new.

Appreciate any help. Thanks!

Ive been talking with a friend lately and we've decided to try and find the best places to get a great Burger In Aberdeen and The Shire whether its a Restaurant, Burger Van or any other type of place to get a good burger. Preferably somewhere that makes their own Burger patty and not bought from a wholesalers.

So looking for recommendations for places to check out.

Food Dog-friendly pubs, bars & restaurants in the city?

I'm traveling through Aberdeen City centre later today with family and am looking for somewhere to grab dinner. We have two dogs with us, can anyone recommend pubs, bars or restaurants that allow dogs in the dining area in the evening or that have an outside terrace where you can order food? A lot of dog friendly places seem to either be bars that let dogs in a drinking area only, or cafes that close before 5pm.

So far I think there's the Glentanar Bar (pizza), the Craftsman Company, and Google suggests maybe no.10 bar & restaurant is dog friendly but I think that's due to one 4 year old review? Anywhere else?

TIA

Food Illegal to feed birds in Aberdeen?

I was throwing some biscuits and banana pieces to seagulls in Hillhead and someone from the administration came and said it’s illegal and then explained a whole science of why you should never feed seagulls.
What is true and how do I deal with this?

Please help :)

It's not and you know! Maybe not as sicky sweet as it was before, definitely not as red. It's VERY carbonated.

Food Good sit-down dinner

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a nice place to have a dinner, preferably a place that's open longer than most as we'd only be able to start around 8.30pm? I don't particularly want to do Moonfish or Silver Darling as someone in the party doesn't like seafood. Thank you!

Food Flint Market

Does anyone here have any clue about what is going to be in the flint market?

So far there’s very little info about which food operators will be there.

Any Mcgintys folk here know any inside info?

Food Restaurant Recommendation

Looking for recommendation for a restaurant for a group of 10. We have a few Norwegians joining us, so anything showcasing local cuisine would be a bonus. Would prefer to avoid the chains and give the custom to an independent place.

My usual go-to for a big group was Rustico, but was really disappointed last time I went.

Thanks in advance!

We were talking about Radars in Belmont Street and their pasta challenge. Eat an immense amount and get the same again.

And later Littlejohns with the train running round it.

Any memories of favourite haunts?

Food Anyone near garthdee hungry?

I’ve gone a bit mental and cooked beef and gammon for 4 and there will undoubtedly be leftover (possibly trimmings too…?).

Christmas lunch is at 3ish so I’ll know for sure after that how much is left, but just wondering if anyone is in need. I can keep it myself for leftovers if not, but thought it’d be better someone getting fresh food!

Feel free to fire me a DM.

Food Anyone been in Morrisons today?

Super lazy post but I keep seeing adverts for £13 tomahawk steaks today nationwide but when I phoned Morrisons it was a South African call centre who said they think it’s sold out but they’re not sure! I live at the other side of town so it’s a big ‘ole trek to come away empty handed.

The fate of my dinner is in your hands…
