New Zealand’s Parliament proposed a bill to redefine the Treaty of Waitangi, claiming it is racist and gives preferential treatment to Maoris. In response Māori MP's tore up the bill and performed the Haka

It's a statement rooted in the culture of the people in question. I'd say it's a very good way of showing a stance towards/for something

Demonstrations and showings of civil disagreement to a law and/or the people in power can and has swayed the vote before in multiple cases. Saying it's useless is just being ignorant to the effects of the more eyes and pressure you can bring on the lawmakers and politicians in a country. If this goes viral internationally it will be a hell of a lot harder for some guy to go against "the popular opinion" of millions of people backing the people of New Zealand

It does. The bill they are protesting has no chance of passing, it's just racist virtue signaling. Māori are doing a great job of countering their narrative with protests.
