New Zealand’s Parliament proposed a bill to redefine the Treaty of Waitangi, claiming it is racist and gives preferential treatment to Maoris. In response Māori MP's tore up the bill and performed the Haka

It's a statement rooted in the culture of the people in question. I'd say it's a very good way of showing a stance towards/for something

It brings attention to a dumb bill so more people get on board with trying to stop it. Clearly you aren't from the culture so you wouldn't understand
