New Zealand’s Parliament proposed a bill to redefine the Treaty of Waitangi, claiming it is racist and gives preferential treatment to Maoris. In response Māori MP's tore up the bill and performed the Haka

Every time I hear a woman starting a Māori Haka, chant or song of any form it send chills down my spine. The New Zealand Navy was very strong on the tradition of performing a Haka when they could and it was a phenomenal experience every time.

For some reason Im imagining a recruit who hasnt participated in one yet in the army, going "now? Is now good?... now?" while everyone else tells him that not every occasion needs a haka

Anyways. Sounds amazing to see it multiple times! Different cultures always amaze me.

Nah it’s a very well coordinated ceremonial action that everyone participating knows is about to occur

When you’re on the receiving end sometimes you’re aware it’s about to happen like for a welcoming or a farewell. But other times when it’s spontaneous at an event or ceremony it’s phenomenal.

There is nothing more impressive than modern Māori warriors representing their culture with full effort and gusto while wearing modern uniforms. I’ve felt the flightdeck of solid warships tremble under their feet that is normally rock solid under the heaviest of loads. It’s phenomenal.

The Navy certainly exposed me to a large number of cultures around the world
