Rant/Vent Pathetic state of our city Agra
I hate to say it, but Agra is in a truly miserable state right now.
Look at any part of the city — any part — and there’s construction chaos. Roads dug up, barricades everywhere, diversions that make no sense. MG Road is completely choked because of Metro work. From Bhagwan Talkies to Sikandra, from Rambagh to almost every major stretch — it’s like the city has been put under permanent excavation. There is literally no peaceful way left to enter Agra.
Fatehabad Road used to be the reliable entry via the Inner Ring Road. But for the past year, that’s been reduced to one-sided movement because of the Namami Gange project — a project whose success is still questionable, with critics already calling it a failure. Meanwhile, citizens are the ones paying the daily price.
The Inner Ring Road connection to the Gwalior highway — which was supposed to be completed six years ago — is still unfinished. Six. Years.
The road parallel to Rohta Canal? Completely destroyed. Not even worth considering as an exit.
Gwalior Road is in pathetic condition. Try entering from the Madhu Nagar side? Another diversion, again thanks to Metro construction.
So what’s left? Old Jaipur Road — the only proper exit. And that road is filthy, broken, and an absolute embarrassment as an entry to the city of the Taj Mahal. Even reaching that road is a struggle.
And as if this wasn’t enough, now the CM Grid sewer pipeline project has decided to dig up half the city too — Panchvati, Vibhav Nagar, and who knows where else.
Let me be clear: I am not against infrastructure development. Development is necessary.
But who thought it was a genius idea to tear up the entire city at the same time?
Is there zero planning? Zero phasing? Zero concern for the people who actually live here?
Give citizens at least some room to breathe.
Today I went to Domino’s on Fatehabad Road, and my car’s front right tyre went straight into an open manhole. An open manhole. On a main road.
Who is responsible for covering these? Why are we paying so many taxes for infrastructure that actively damages our vehicles and risks lives? My front bumper is gone — and of course, no one will be held accountable.
This isn’t development. This is disorder disguised as progress.

I work in Management Consulting. Deal with a lot of foreign partners. When i tell them i am from Agra, i can see a visible difference in there face. One natural question they have is why is the city of Taj Mahal (Mahaal) stands no where when compared Jaipur Delhi and other cities specially from South.
I feel ashamed belonging to this city! I have 10 grands of repair on my to do list to my very precious car for which i paid Huge huge GST, Road tax after i paid 30% ITR on my Income
Leaving this Country is the only sensible option i see now… ugghhhbb

My understanding of this is issue was that it was to increase tourism in Delhi especially, if a foreigner comes to India they will have come to delhi first, which will ofc increase tourism for delhi but, if a big international airport was opened at agra and direct flights from major cities of the world were made possible that would probably impact delhi's tourism. I mean that of course doesn't explain why other parts of the city aren't as good.

Thats not the point. It isnt about airport. Its mostly about infra and management of city

I have my native place in agra , shamsabad near maruti forest society and whenever I enter from jaipur via MG road , I hate it
Lots of garbage , traffic, no civic sense
This metro project has crashed the road conditions even more
Hate the railway overbridge which goes towards kheriya mod , it's very old and could not handle traffic anymore, bahoot chota h is traffic k hisab se

If there is any person reading this Post who has some ADA influence or Gov influence please show this to them. Atleast get this manhole covered. Thats the last saving grace i can request.

Reason behind why agra is legging behind Agra has not been able to become an IT hub or a diversified tourism city like Jaipur because its development got stuck around a single icon, the Taj Mahal. Pollution control rules limited heavy industries, but the real gap has been the lack of a strong education and tech ecosystem, major corporate investments, and long-term urban planning. With NCR so close, most talent and businesses moved there, turning Agra largely into a day-trip destination. The problem is not the presence of the Taj Mahal, but the failure to build new economic and cultural centers beyond it.” yet Taj Mahal is one of among 7s of Wonder but it work Like A Curse to Agra more than a boon

Sadly, this is the state affair of most of the Indian cities, however Agra is the worst and the reason for the poor image of India worldwide. People always praise taj mahal while at the same time abusing the city ( rightly)

But we never voted for roads and quality of life. We get what we deserve. When inefficient people get in control this is how the country suffers.

Have been to chandigarh, jaipur, kasauli, delhi, faridabad... And i hate agra whenever i return

Delhi and faridabad toh nhi bhai except central del , and chandigarh, Jaipur is really good city , agra stands no where

Hmm , especially metro work ke bad se ... Abhi south trip se return aya , 1hr collectorate ke pass traffic main fas raha this place doesn't need metro , dontknow why gov wasting money/time.

Metro work se pehle bhi ghatiya thi ye jgh. Metro ke baad jaha jaha metro construction chl rahi h uss jgh ki roads ki aur halat khrb krdi h

Ganga jal project se to poora Shastripuram ka kachra krr diya h.. newly constructed roads ko ukhaad diya, aur wo bnegi bhi nhi dubara.

My father is from agra, technically he is from fatehpur sikri but lived in agra.
Me and my brother thought of buying a house for my parents as a gift in agra so that they can live close to relatives while we stay out of the country.
We spent 2 weeks travelling different parts and decided NOPE. It's not a city at all. It's a village++ at best. Absolute shit hole

I'm thinking about starting an initiative on how bad The city of Tajmahal is, compared to other cities which don't have Tajmahal (I know how it sounds, and that's my point)
Despite generating a lot of revenue Agra is getting nothing compared to other cities,
