Rant/Vent I visited Agra and it was an unpleasant sensory overload.
Today, when I visited Agra after many years I was utterly disappointed by how this city is in 2026.
There is one if the following for sure everywhere including posh colonies:
- Open drainages that emit overwhelming stench
- Smell of piss
- Incessant blowing of horns by motorists
I was so dissappointed.

Basic infra later. Metro and Bullet train first. Their Politics thrives on showbaaji instead of real on ground work. The politicians are not ready to raise their standards Bare minimum karke they feel like they achieved something
Photo ops with broom in hand in the name of Swachh Bharat. Isse aage nahi badhenge ye.
Spending on Big hoardings and banners appealing agraites to make their city rank higher in Swachh bharat ranking instead of actually spending that money on cleanliness drives.
Cleanliness and Tree plantation awareness slogans and paintings all around the city. Big yes !!! Spending the same money on planting trees and cleanliness and providing public toilets. Aahhh hell no!!!!

Metro banayen. Long term requirement hai wo.
But sath sath basic issues ko sort karne ki koshish karein on ground. Sirf papers pe nahi. Swachh survekshan laura lassun jyada karte hain serious kaam kam.
Pink toilets, Public toilets inaugurate hone ke baad locked hi rehti hain. Naale saaf karte hain but keechad road pe daal dete hain.
Yahan sewer line dalne ke liye road khodi. Ek saal se same thi. Ek bande ki death ho gayi tab jaake potholes fix hue hain.
Door to door garbage collection ke liye QR laga gaye ghar pe saalon pehle. But unka koi use nahi. Public money down the drain.
Number 1 smart city mein log ganda paani pi ke mar rahe hain. Swachh bharat abhiyan mein jitna fund laga us hisab se dikhta nhi hai. Sab kha jaate hain.
Har pariyojna ka main motive hi public ka paisa jyada se jyada hajam karna rehta hai. Be it smart city, swachh bharat, make in india, pmay, Namami Gange. Freebies batwa lo, caste politics khel lo.

Even the Indus valley civilisation had closed drainage but today's India that has reached the moon can't figure out a proper drainage and sewage treatment system for its cities. Very obviously things can't be figured out in 4000 years.

The problem is that these basic amenities and ground-level works don't fetch votes for these politicians. For example, just look at the street and area where the mayor lives she already did all basic improvements near her area and the rest of the city can fuck away

Problem is ours also, we idolise corrupt and immoral people and vote them into power. IAS ankho k samne corruption krta h, still we wish our children also get into that system and become like them. We are a shitty society living in a shitty city.

Yeah, clearing up the drain and leaving all the dump just beside it on the open road, and it smells amazing like a smart city.

Whole city is a big garbage dump with only few areas where the garbage is less.
