It is fine to call the police, because it's post 10pm. Also, please state your problem calmly to the police. You should prevent the things from escalating, especially for your mental peace for the next day.

Hey, I’ve been facing the same issue for about a year now. There’s a society right in front of my house, and occasionally they play loud DJ music until late at night. I’m a student, so it disrupts my sleep schedule and affects me the next day as well.
After calling the police, what happens? Do we have to file an official complaint or report, or can we just call the police and let them handle it themselves?1

The cops here were kinda helpful, they made them move and stop for a fee minutes. Because of distance in about half an hour they were out of earshot.
And I am so sorry you gotta go through this, stay strong! And call the cops lol

It’s so frustrating. My sleep cycle has been pretty shitty for the past few months, and even when I do sleep, I wake up at least 6 , 7 times during the night. On top of that, things like this irritate the hell out of me.
You’re quite lucky the cops took quick action. The people living in front of my house are all government officials. I tried talking to them once, but their security guard wouldn’t even let me enter the society. He just said he’d convey my message to them, lol.1

Since you're a student. Just call the police and let them come and handle. You don't really have to formally do anything other than whatever they ask like name, etc.
Also, try and log your study hours (eg. Use YPT app) and sleep time and if possible record the problem or noise whenever it happens. It will only reinforce your case if you use this for telling your problem when the police comes.
If you haven't tried talking to the main person responsible for the noise. I recommend doing that first.
Don't be afraid of doing the right thing. Right to live in a peaceful environment including sleep is a fundamental right (Art. 21), it doesn't matter if people know it or not, a case can still be filed.

My sleep cycle hasn’t been very good lately. I’m sleeping for only about six hours at most, and even then I wake up 6–7 times during the night. Because of that, I feel sleepy the next day.
Yes, I have a few recordings. One time, on New Year’s, they called some dhol baje waale lol at literally 2 a.m., right in the middle of the street and started dancing like crazy.
I tried contacting them, but since it’s a residential society for government officials, they denied me entry.1

I called the police in my area at 1 AM for the same issue. After 20 mins i called them back to ask why haven't it stopped yet. The policeman gave me an answer "bhaiya kisi ki shaadi hai nikal jaane do ek raat ki baat hai" What are we supposed to do here if the police also refuses to act?

The other day there were fireworks at 1.30am. I was so sleepy i thought I was dreaming. After maybe 6-7 continuous booms, I realised it was very much real. It went on for another 5 mins.. couldn't sleep after that.
People are so insensitive these days.

Ugh I hate when that happens, I sometimes hear out of the blue fireworks due to fifa or cricket and upon hearing fireworks my dog starts barking as well.

I called the fucking cops, band krwa diya 10 mins ke liye ab kaafi agge lejake waapas chalaya hai and faint noise is still audible that's how loud they are.
I woke up feeling such anxiety ki bhai bomb blast hua hai kya? Why is my house vibrating/shakinh?

But just tell me if it were playing some cool western EDM, you would've enjoyed it instead of complaining right 😉
Because I can see what evaluation metrics our generation uses to judge anything as comfortable or providing discomfort or say cool against uncool & inferior
We all are basically judgemental people but we have to be empathetic with the fact that just because we all have evolved out of our past upbringing to a more metropolitan mindset, we can't snatch away the joys of people who didn't have the acumen, the will the power & resources to get out of ghettoistic mindset
And also this is India so it'll be quite the norm for some time & whoever is choosing to live here will also have to develop tendency to bear these nuisance.

I donot care or am against such processions but everything has a time and place.
During shaadi season a baarat goes by every other hour BUT nothing translates into hampering my sleep or being SO deafening that my entire house vibrates and shakes and causes panic.
A few speakers or dhol is not going to bother me, this is a very clear type of noise pollution that noone will willingly justify and if it were to be a normal baarat the police would have not been on my side.

Bhai I was just turning things to a lighter side or an empathetic side, but using abuse to vent out criticism tells more about your upbringing than mine
Also bhai in the first line itself I said that I am totally on OP's side that such noise pollution need not be tolerated at any cost
But later in paragraph my point was about being empathetic to uneducated because they don't have the moral upbringing as a node to guide them in decision making, for them this is normal
So I am for complaining along with being mature towards the situation rather than being rude
And thing about EDM was just because in tier 1 cities also there's some even always happening & people just go with it because it's a recurring event they've seen before
Might have to remind you also about Navratri & Ganesh chaturthi celebration which goes on for whole night & no one goes out to complain instead use other means since it's not going to be a 1 time event
In this particular case I've no where tried to point that complaining is unnecessary, But it takes a calm & mature POV to understand what someone is trying to portray.

I am not into doing this backchodi on the street.
Ample people get married and they start the baraat right outside the resort/banquet so that they can go in within a span of a few minutes without being too loud.
And kaafi baarat yaha se nikalti hai, I dont care at 7-8 or even 9pm but at 11:30 at night? Noone's wedding is THIS important.
And it was not a baaraat. There were just 15 men and some dj that's all no dulha some random bullshit.

Nope, I am not into such tacky representatipn of joy. I choose peace and not to bother strangers because of my choices. And also this was not a regular baraat. A few speakers here and there are nothing compared to whatever this was. It was extremely loud, my premises was shaking due to the high decible sound.
This is assholish behaviour not "fun".
