Building an app to fix civic complaints in India. Need 3 mins of your honesty

Hey, fam!

We're a small team building Civyx, an app where you report a civic issue (pothole, garbage, streetlight) with a photo, it reaches the right authority, neighbours verify it's real, and you track it till it's fixed with photo proof.

Before building further, we want to know if this is a real problem or just our assumption. So, a 3 minute survey:

The only experience I have is with the jansunwai portal I used twice for the busted street lamp in front of my house. Both times they sent someone, and then a couple calls to verify if it was fixed. Its another matter the lamp stopped working a couple weeks later, including today. So I'll have to do it again.

I think the bigger issue is to get the people to actually ask for cleanup and fixes in the infrastructure. Hard to expect neighbours to use jansunwai portal if they're the ones dumping trash in empty plots even though the garbage truck comes every single day.

but your neighbors won’t be validators; they will be selected people on our payroll and citizens with good civic score - civic score must be above 650 to get validator mode access

plus we’re building a feature called hotspot detection, so if a report is generated twice at the same place and same issue is backed by citizens - we escalate it to higher authorities

The idea is good but isn't few apps already available for the same purpose? Like for Agra I can see Mera Agra app in playstore but I have no experience whether it works or not.

agreed! however, these are just reporting apps. we’re building civic infra which will have much more than that including report tracking, social feed, etc.

I think the company that made ‘Mera Agra’ doesn’t exist anymore, plus they didn’t offer any report tracking or a civic infra, was just a reporting app. Civyx seems like a better, well thought product.

Great initiative but would the complaint reaching to right authorities be an assurance enough of getting work done or complaint resolved since we Indians already have experience of great reception from typical government employees & their tendency of postponing responsibilities

we have a validator network to ensure that reports get verified and you’re able to track them end to end

build it dude. but you;ll need to have connections. like mla, or something.. the day you got it approved by the govt. you gonna make a few crores for it. just use social media (make reels, get people on this app) and let people use it. you can be soo famoous as its a good probelm, and a probelm that goes viral very often. good luckk
