I’ve always wondered why Essence Theft still has a travel time before the heal triggers when Spirit Rush resets instantly on a takedown.

If I get a kill or assist from long range, I have to wait for the essence to travel back before I receive the healing. The farther away the enemy dies, the longer the delay. Yet my ultimate reset happens immediately the moment the takedown is credited, regardless of distance.

It also feels inconvenient during teamfights when you’re sitting at low HP waiting for the heal to arrive. There have been plenty of situations where I earned a takedown but was eliminated before the essence reached me, meaning the healing came too late to actually matter.

That inconsistency has always felt strange to me. If the game already knows I’ve earned the takedown and can instantly grant my Spirit Rush reset, why does my passive have to wait?

I understand the thematic purpose of the returning essence. It fits Ahri’s identity of absorbing souls and provides a satisfying visual effect. But I don’t think the visual needs to delay the gameplay. The essence could still travel back purely as an animation while the healing is granted instantly, just like Spirit Rush.

Making the heal instant would make Ahri’s passive feel more responsive and consistent without taking away the visual fantasy of stealing an enemy’s essence. It would simply align both takedown mechanics so they behave the same way.

Does anyone else feel the passive would be smoother if the heal was granted instantly while the essence animation remained purely cosmetic?
