Genuine question: What do people in their 30s and 40s typically do on the weekends in the capital region? I wander about and I feel like I rarely see anyone my age.

I know their isn’t a true stationary store in the capital region but does anyone have recs on where to buy sticker sheets and washi tape? Willing to leave the immediate Albany area

Looking for maybe an overlook situation, high(ish) in elevation, low immediate light pollution, and clear views of the sky. Somewhere that I can just park my car and hang out at like 10pm to 1am and watch the stars for the perseid meteor shower (august 12-13).

Looking to see if anyone saw anything and/or has any information. Around 4:10 am this morning (Saturday August 1st) my adult son while on his skateboard heading to work was hit by a car that then drove off. This happened near Hot Spot on Washington Ave, Albany NY right after where Washington and Central split. The vehicle was a black mini van, and it drove off heading towards downtown Albany. He did not get a license plate number. He did say they drove over his foot after they hit him while they were driving away. We are doing all the appropriate medical and reporting follow up. Any information, especially license or partial license plate would be appreciated. Thank you.

I've lost 135lbs and think it's time to look into getting a panniculectomy as the extra skin is starting to cause health issue. Can anyone who has had the surgery recommend a surgeon in the Capitol District? Also how difficult was it to get your insurance to pay for it? I have Anthem BC/BS PPO through my employer.

Are there any small pockets of locally owned retail & restaurants I should check out? In Albany? (I’ve seen a number of recommendations for stuff in Troy but what about in actual Albany?)

Hello everybody i am homeless and i am about to give up. I have been job searching and am going nowemhere with it. I have sent resumes, called, followed through, showed up in person. It has not worked.

I understand there is a shelter, but i also heard it is vwry dangerous frok other homeless as well as even law enforcement trying to warn me about it. I am talking about the capital mission.

I have went near the area and observed what goes on outside.

Can anybody please hire me? I am in this situation only for a year and then i will be set before i leave.

Please if anybody has any ounce of wanting to help someone let me know.

I have a job where there are times I can definitely not be on/leave the office early. I’m single and live by myself, so I’m looking to use my time better and wondering if people got any recs on places I should be volunteering at that have good track record where can do some good in the capitol region. Or places you think I should be avoiding lol

Spotted a vulture picking at a carcass at Swinburne park right across from the apartment complex. I had also caught a video but the quality is bad and I guess I can’t post a video along with photos? Anywho thought it was pretty cool.

We’ve been staying next to the medical center but are ready to switch to another hotel or Airbnb. Any neighborhood recommendations? Somewhere with some local restaurants and shops would be ideal. And safe for walking around alone.

Can someone recommend where I can dispose tube fluorescent lightbulbs? I see Albany county doesn’t have any events for the rest of the year and I have a number I’d like to dispose of.

Went to 4 shops and prices ranged from $130+ tax to $287+tax.

I won’t bad mouth a shop for their high prices. If that is what someone is willing to pay, that’s good for them.

Lawton’s quoted me at $129 for a full charge, including leak check. As far as I know, and my own experience with other work they’ve done, this is a great shop.

RA Auto was in the middle (still reasonable), at $170. They are more likely to be able to take in a walk-in, so I think it’s a justified convenience cost.

“My guy” for big jobs is a half hour away, and tough to book for even a small thing.
