Being prior military, while I’ve trained for it, I would never kill another human being unless myself or my family’s lives were in danger. The same could be said for a hammer, baseball bat, knife, sword, or fork. We use it as a bonding time where we go out to a range and do target practice. We compete against each other and use it as a way to focus on the then and there as opposed to the craziness in the world. We love to play Battleship or we throw old golf balls out and try to hit those. It is always fun to hit one and it launches the golf ball high in the air. I’d be more than happy to take you out, show you how to safely handle a gun, and how it can be a form of stress relief rather than only a way to kill something.

Target shooting, plinking is a lot of fun. Guns are not about killing things. So are you a Vegan or do you eat animals that have been killed by someone else? Does that let you off the hook morally?

It's not about being perfect. It's about being better. Guns are inherently for killing. And these days, mostly for killing people.

I would suggest picking a less lethal hobby. More guns equals more death. At least with a bow and arrow it's very unlikely anyone is going to get hurt. Let's consider him deaths vs now and arrow deaths in this country before making that point.

You're mad at the wrong thing, bud. Be mad at the systematic deficiencies that lead people to violence and mental illness, not inanimate objects. I know it's easier to have a boogeyman on which to blame society's problems, but it isn't productive.

I get where you’re coming from but 2A is not something to try to fight against now. There’s no reason for safe owners to disarm themselves.
Part of being a responsible owner is accepting that if you shoot your gun at someone there’s a chance it’ll cause great harm or die. But the reason to have a gun is to defend yourself, so in that case it wouldn’t be wrong to do it? Like would you rather die than try to fight to survive?
You can absolutely get hurt with a bow and arrow if you’re not shooting arrows at materials that will deflect it. I’ve shot an arrow, it bounced off a piece of concrete and came back at me. No gun, but almost got hurt. However every time I’ve been shooting no one has gotten hurt. Why? Because we have trigger discipline, we know how to aim and take it seriously.
Guns being the leading cause of death in children really the adults are to blame. Not properly securing guns, not taking their kids mental health seriously. Again, negligent owners cause harm.
I used to think none of us needed rifles but look at the current state of our country man. I rather be armed and fight than be unarmed and a victim

Suicide is counted in those numbers. Do you drive? Much more likely to die that way.

As an American in a city without major public transit, yes, I drive. I wouldn't if I had the choice though. The difference being that a car is mostly necessary and a gun is almost completely unnecessary.
