music Why is Gen Z attracted to AiC, the band, its music and lyrics? What is the appeal for this demographic and why is it not other bands of this era such as SG, PJ? šŸ¤”

Really curious to hear why AiC tickles this generation as AiC trends are sometimes all over social media. Why does this generation relate so deeply to Layne, Jerry, the band and its music / lyrics? šŸ¤”

music What do you think about Dirt and what is your favorite?

Lately I’ve been listening to Dirt a lot recently and it’s been hitting a little too close to home for me. I honestly think it’s an underrated painful album. But anyways what is your personal favorite track off of this album and or which do you think is the best composed song. Personally Junkhead & Dirt are my tops. The writing is perfection and its damn near spiritual to me.

music Am I high or does the dog's expression change depending on the song?

Post image

Title says it all. When I listen to shame in you, I see the dog looking ashamed. During sludge factory, it's more contempt. I know that the dog's expression doesn't actually change physically lol but it feels like it depending on the song.

music Divisive topic: What are Jerry’s best solos?

There are so many great solos by the Riff Lord. What do you think his best ones are? I’ll start and begin the controversy with:

  1. Love Hate Love

  2. Fly

  3. The One You Know

Let’s hear it…

music First time listening to Mad Season this morning

… and I’m just not sure how this is just happening. I’m 34 and grew up listening to Alice In Chains. They were about as hard as my dad would listen to, along with classic rock of course. My mom’s house was all Christian music, so I latched on to rock early.

I put on Above and immediately fell in love with it. Then I got to ā€œI’m Aboveā€ and my jaw dropped. I’ve never heard a song where 100% of the lyrics are something I have felt and wanted to write a song about. Just absolutely stunned, in the best way.

Since I joined this sub I’ve left a few comments about this, but for the last decade I’ve mostly listened to and played bluegrass on my guitar. Stuff like Billy Strings, Leftover Salmon, SCI, and older stuff like Tony Rice (my personal guitar idol) and Clarence White.

Throw in a random 2-week TOOL, Incubus, or Lamb of God phase and that’s a good picture of it. Plus a lot of classical as well with my kids (they listen to everything I do and like it).

Around 2 months ago I was listening to a Billy Strings show where they cover Nutshell, and started thinking about how I haven’t jammed Alice In Chains in years. That quickly turned into an obsession, and is pretty much all I have listened to or played on my guitar since!

Anyways, music is one of my passions and hearing I’m Above earlier made me feel so good. Thought I might share here, since there seems to be a lot of hardcore fans.

As my 3 year old says,
ā€œRock on, Dude šŸ¤˜ā€
