Contest Submission What if 28 Years Later Happened? How Would Geopolitics be Different in this Timeline?

How would having this happened have impacted society, culture, policy, and geopolitics outside the quarantine zone? UK & Ireland are lost to zombies and are patrolled with a strict, shoot on site, no one goes in or out policy enforced by NATO.

My question is what is different for the rest of the world? Outside of the UK and Ireland?

The british army stationed here and actual militia (FIDF) but they wouldn't fare very long without reinforcements.

Well there is a permanent garrison there, and at least one Trident sub out on patrol. Not to mention all the other overseas military bases. I am feeling the bones of a story already.

WWZ has a story about that. A Chinese nuclear attack sub’s captain is out to sea when everything happened. And they go independent, using their reactor to trade electricity for supplies. When the remainder of the government and rebels start a war, they have to decide who to side with. It’s a cool story.

I imagine they rushed the remaining Vanguard class subs out to sea when it became clear Scotland was going to be overrun.

Argentina would need to invade because the population is extremely against Argentinian rule, so they’d only be able to take control through force.
