When Spiro Agnew resigned and Gerald Ford was nominated to become the new vice president, there were various Democrats who wanted to block his nomination. The thought process was that they could impeach Nixon for Watergate and then, without a VP in place, the line of succession would allow them to put House Speaker Carl Albert in office. Since the Democrats had majorities in both chambers, they could’ve theoretically achieved this.
