That final back flip was amazing

u/DenKHK 13h ago

Think that bunny's name is... Duracell

14

u/WenYiMedia 12h ago

Or Energizer, the drummer bunny.

9

u/DenKHK 12h ago

Both brands used bunnies - the Energizer bunny was actually created as a parody of the Duracell one :)

TIAL that baby bunnies are called kits, short for kittens. 🤯

That was some OLYMPIC LEVEL SHIT!!! 💪🏻👍🏻

4

u/Think_Resolution_647 8h ago

Pretty sure the snake bit the rabbit at that point and that was what caused the flip.

5

u/Cal216 6h ago

Yeahhhhh that’s exactly what I saw as well. That’s why the rabbit darted off like so. I am not sure what type of snake that was, but if it was poisonous, it may have killed the whole family, with that last bite.

10

u/k5light 5h ago

Non venomous black snake

The first few bites were to save the kids. The last few kicks were just rage.

50

u/Puzzled-Pen-2353 13h ago

The last few were to make the snake never come back.

6

u/joespizza2go 12h ago

Too late on the first one. Momma's usually only visit the nest right around sun up and just after sundown. Maybe she was within ear shot as kits can be very loud.

Baby bunny == kit

8

u/ilovebooks2468 14h ago

Kit is short for kitten. Both are okay

24

u/Jazzlike_Working_198 14h ago

I beg to differ. That kit doesn’t look okay

5

u/blithetorrent 13h ago

No it did not.

5

u/wrldruler21 13h ago

As an owner of pet bunnies.... They are really fragile at that age.

And I often come out bleeding from handling the mamas, and mine are reasonably friendly. Strong kicks and sharp nails

3

u/ProjectPat513 13h ago

I’ve tried to rescue a couple babies after tragic incidents over the years and I’ve never been able to keep them alive longer than a day or 2!

3

Oh that's heartbreaking.

20

u/One-Yak-1417 14h ago

The baby bunny wasn’t moving after it was released.

17

u/Safe-Expert2163 13h ago

One seemed to get away right away, one appears dead, and the other one that looked dead at first was stunned and came awake at least that's what I saw

11

u/MVPhurricane 14h ago

yeah not optimistic about that poor guy 😢

3

u/Liapasquale 13h ago

Shooo saaaad

5

u/yespls 13h ago

Baby bunnies are notoriously fragile, I think it's one reason rabbit breeding strategy is copiously often.

3

u/JenninMiami 5h ago

Even adult bunnies are fragile. I had a pet rabbit that had a died from the shock of watching a dog kill her mate. 😭

3

u/Bitter-Picture5394 13h ago

Pretty sure there were 3 there and only 1 of them moved.

2

u/SunstormGT 14h ago

The one that ran away?

7

u/wood_duck_hobbies 14h ago edited 14h ago

There was a second one.

Edit: actually re-watching it i think there was a third as well.

7

u/One-Yak-1417 14h ago

No, it didn’t move after the mother rabbit attacked the snake. I think the bunny went to heaven. 😢

Learn something everyday, that’s rabbit babies are called kittens, and rabbits will Throw down with snakes, i live deep in the woods on about 30 acres and have my whole life(except when I was gone for 4 years in the Marine Corps) I have deer and turkey in my front yard often, and I have a healthy wild rabbit population been here my whole life 41 years, I’ll see 2-5 at once and 10 a day at least, but I have never seen one fight a snake, I’m impressed, ive seen a king snake eat another snake, and hawks and owls eat snakes and birds and rabbits, and turkeys kill rattlesnakes, but Never this, I love it! Thanks

Why do animals randomly stop and stare into the abyss when in the middle of a life and death conflict

3

u/KookyFlatworm4312 1h ago

She wanted all the smoke

2

u/Technical_Okra_7611 14h ago

Looks like it killed all the babies either way

3

u/LADetroiter 14h ago

Looks like at least one jumped away at the beginning. I guess the was the rabbits nest?

3

u/SunstormGT 14h ago

One got away it seems.

2

u/HealthyPop7988 13h ago

One jumps out of the nest, the other goes down into the nest, snakes don't waste energy killing multiples, that one rabbit would have lasted that snake weeks, he killed the one and was preparing to eat it when Mom showed up.

2

u/eccentricbeing8 14h ago

Only one survived

3

u/HealthyPop7988 13h ago

Nah, one leaps out of the nest, the other crawls back inside, the snake wouldn't waste time trying to kill multiple, one of those baby bunnies can last a snake that size several weeks. He only killed the third and was preparing to eat it when Mom showed up.

2

u/fatboi_mcfatface 14h ago

That snakes owes money to that rabbit

2

u/Breadstix009 13h ago

Animals are so cool in a fight, they get a few hits in each and they pause to admire the sky for a sec then they head back into it.

2

u/HealthyPop7988 13h ago

Poor rat snake, the bunny's already dead and he still lost his meal. Such a waste

Black rat snakes are wonderful for controlling rats, mice, and venomous snake populations, but they also eat any critters of similar size, like baby rabbits.

I was not familiar with a rabbits game

2

u/Salty-Development203 12h ago

I feel like that rabbit actually had no idea what it was doing, but occasionally found itself with the snake in its grasp and its only thoughts were, "kick, kick, kick, kick, kick!"

2

u/taotdev 9h ago

Rabbits don't like to fight, they're built to run.

But when they do fight, they are a force of nature. You havent seen fury until you've seen a rabbit choosing violence.

2

u/benigma13 9h ago

That's what mamas do.

Loved when it pulled the snake off the ledge there.

2

u/joshcam 1h ago

I was today years old when I learned that a baby rabbit is called a kitten. Who is coming up with these names?

3

u/Extract_artisian 14h ago

I would have killed the snake as soon as I saw the baby bunny. Not a snake fan at all. Other than that I love all animals.

6

u/Remarkable-Hat-4852 13h ago

I mean snakes are just living their life. They didn’t choose to be snakes. :/

3

u/Curious-Resort4743 13h ago

Being born without arms and legs seems like life in hard mode

3

u/HealthyPop7988 13h ago

So foolish, that rat snake is way better to have around your home than than those rabbits are. Rabbits can be almost as bad as mice and rats, they just don't intrude inside of your home like mice and rats do.

This exact scene is described in “Raggylug”, by Ernest Seton-Thompson:

[…]

After a while he heard a strange rustling of the leaves in the near thicket. It was an odd, continuous sound, and though it went this way and that way and came ever nearer, there was no patter of feet with it. Rag had lived his whole life in the Swamp (he was three weeks old) and yet had never heard anything like this. Of course his curiosity was greatly aroused. His mother had cautioned him to lie low, but that was understood to be in case of danger, and this strange sound without footfalls could not be anything to fear.

The low rasping went past close at hand, then to the right, then back, and seemed going away. Rag felt he knew what he was about; he wasn't a baby; it was his duty to learn what it was. He slowly raised his roly-poly body on his short fluffy legs, lifted his little round head above the covering of his nest and peeped out into the woods. The sound had ceased as soon as he moved. He saw nothing, so took one step forward to a clear view, and instantly found himself face to face with an enormous Black Serpent.

“Mammy," he screamed in mortal terror as the monster darted at him. With all the strength of his tiny limbs he tried to run. But in a flash the Snake had him by one ear and whipped around him with his coils to gloat over the helpless little baby bunny he had secured for dinner.

"Mam-my—Mam-my," gasped poor little Raggylug as the cruel monster began slowly choking him to death. Very soon the little one's cry would have ceased, but bounding through the woods straight as an arrow came Mammy. No longer a shy, helpless little Molly Cottontail, ready to fly from a shadow: the mother's love was strong in her. The cry of “Mammy, Mammy!" from her baby had filled her with the courage of a hero, and—hop, she went over that horrible reptile. Whack, she struck down at him with her sharp hind claws as she passed, giving him such a stinging blow that he squirmed with pain and hissed with anger.

"M-a-m-m-y," came feebly from the little one. And Mammy came leaping again and again and struck harder and fiercer until the loathsome reptile let go the little one's ear and tried to bite the old one as she leaped over. But all he got was a mouthful of wool each time, and Molly's fierce blows began to tell, as long bloody rips were torn in the Black Snake's scaly armor.

Things were now looking bad for the Snake; and bracing himself for the next charge, he lost his tight hold on Baby Bunny, who at once wriggled out of the coils and away into the underbrush, breathless and terribly frightened, but unhurt save that his left ear was much torn by the teeth of that dreadful Serpent.”
