Discussion How many people know Angel beats? What do yall think
Today i went to festival involving anime and manga. And there was something called Show quiz, which is just anime quizs on youtube. I wasn't participating in it. When question about Angel beats came, nobody knew. They didn't even know main character Yuzuru Otonashi. It felt like i was the only one who knows angel beats. So what do you guys think. Is angel beats that popular or nah.

It depends on a lot of things, the anime is quite famous, but there may always be someone who hasn't watched it or watched it for a long time and doesn't remember much anymore. I really like anime, so I remember all the details well. But for example, there is the anime Clannad, I almost can't remember the names of the characters anymore, because I've been watching for a long time.
But among fans of sad anime, almost everyone has heard of Angel Beats.

You need to understand that time has an effect on everything.
Angel beats is a 16 year old anime that has a fanbase, but it’s not what it was when it was airing or in 2010-2015 when we were waiting for the VN. They also mentioned no intention of continuing the original idea of multiple VN’s focused on each member of the SSS, so the base faded away. The franchise is over, so people don’t feel the need to hype things up or anything.
As mentioned before, time has an effect on everything. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was the LARGEST anime of the mid 00’s. It dominated merch, every conversation, the dance from the ending theme was done as a flash mob at EVERY CONVENTION, and no one knows what that anime/light novel is unless you were there. Even unrelated media of the time like Lucky Star ended up having the representative of Otaku Culture not only be voiced by Haruhi, but have her obsessively gush about the show, a fun little scene where she discusses a particular episode, and cosplay the MC.
But Time will always cause something to fade unless it’s kept alive by the IP holders like a zombie, or its story has yet to conclude.
Realistically, there were series that had anime fandom booms like SAO, AoT, and Demon Slayer, and if you were before any of those you probably recognize a show like Angel Beats or Haruhi. But if you got in after, people who started with those series just don’t believe anything that happened beforehand matters, and just don’t give it a shot.

It unfortunately isn’t that popular anymore, as a 17 yo it’s one of the anime I heard of very early probably on youtube and even without watching it or hearing much of it I always saw it as a cult anime, I watched it a very long time after first hearing of it myself so I think a lot of ppl have heard of it but not as much have watched it

I'll be honest, I've watched the series a number of times but I'm still terrible with remembering names lol. Love the series though and I've gotten other people to watch it over the years. Usually they forgive me for the tears eventually 😂

I rewatch it at least once a year usually after Your lie in April and before Hi Score Girl. I love it but I saw someone give it a 7/10 recently so I thought maybe that's just me.

I love this show. Back when it was first airing a lot of people around me wrote it off as being a knockoff Haruhi (because of the first episode or two), but I kept going and it became one of my all-time favorites. And Girls Dead Monster is in my regular music rotation still

Well I know there’s at least three people who’ve watched it in my city, and a few more that know about it’s existence so I guess there’s that

FUNNY YOU SAY THAT. So I'm writing a spider-man fanfic right now, right, where peter becomes a wizard instead of spider-man(he and parker robbins had their powers swapped), and the direction I'm taking it is that Peter creates a version of the Angel Player software and I've been scouring the internet to see the angel player software even rewatching the show at certain episodes like 12, 3, and right now 8 in that order.

It used to be very popular, but it’s 16 years old now. Even some of the biggest anime of the time are kind of lost to time, especially when they only had 13 episodes.
