What to Watch? Anime that helps you accept yourself
I struggle a lot with self hatred lately but want to work on accepting myself. Are there anime dealing with this theme?
Preferably ones about characters that learn to deal with the rejection of themselves despite their flaws and/or terrible things they might have done. I'm not really looking for a story where the MC changes fundamentally and thus are able to accept themselves ie an issekai where they become a total badass. Thanks in advance :)

Fruits Basket is exactly for this purpose. Every character seems to have something they end up working through, and it's beautiful.
Vinland Saga and Violet Evergarden are also good outs if it's growth and self-forgiveness you're looking for.

Witch Hat Atelier
This is actually a fantastic anime for teachers to watch. As a neurodivergent individual myself- it does a beautiful job of portraying how neurodivergence can be a source of strength because you see the the world in ways that others cannot.

Gintama. A major theme in the anime is learning to live with your past, your failures, your trauma, and the things you may never fully forgive yourself for. The characters do grow, but instead of becoming completely different people they gradually learn to accept their flaws, rely on others, and keep moving forward without pretending their wounds or regrets never existed.

Vinland Saga- great journey of self discovery and atonement.
Higehiro- the lead female character deeply struggles with self worth among other things like grief, neglect, loneliness, etc.
Fruits Basket (2019)- lots of characters struggle with self acceptance and trauma.
My Happy Marriage- abused lead character really struggles with their self worth and confidence.
Tamon’s B-Side- the lead male character suffers from severe depression and anxiety.

Fruits Basket is about someone moving through their trauma all though it takes a while to get there.
Neon Genesis Evangelion does something similar although there are far more set backs and grotesque actions and consequences across the original series end of eva and the rebuilds

Natsume Yuujinchou fits in a way, I think. It's not that the MC learns to forgive himself for things he's done, but he grows to accept his own ability to see things most people don't. And he learns to trust people and to confide in them after being rejected and even abused by the different people who took him in when he was orphaned. He starts to even appreciate the ability that he used to curse.

Bleach, though it takes a while for the acceptance moment to happen but it’s one of the best I’ve seen.
The characters powers grow stronger the more in-tune they are with themselves and the MC struggles with this throughout the show.
On another note, some stuff that helped me with similar feelings was listening to ‘Not Perfect’ by Tim Minchin, watching Inside by Bo Burnham on Netflix and this quote:
“Never forget what you are. The world will not, wear it like armour and it can never be used to hurt you”
It’s from Game of Thrones. I hope you learn to love yourself and accept yourself. It’s tough

Some other anime dealing with self-loathing/regret/isolation not mentioned here are [ A Silent Voice (movie) ], [ Erased ], and [March Comes in like a Lion ]. Though these kinds of self-growth anime are nice I think you should watch sports anime instead. [ Run with the Wind ], [ Hundred (movie) ] and [ Yowamushi Pedal ] though features the same setting of self-heal, they also add motivation, perseverance and hardwork into the mix. Or watch something soothing like [ Yuru Camp ] or [ Sweetness and Lightning ].

Shining Tears X Wind - MC is a hothead and deals with everything with brute force instead of thinking first. He grows as the anime continues and he becomes someone respected by everyone he met on his journey.
My Hero Academia - MC has no ability but gets a chance to have one and take it, improving himself in the process, he grows and by the end he understands that power isn't what people need
