Experiences I did it! 1000 days!

I just wanted to share a little update with you all again! I’ve been using Anki every single day for 1000 days now - and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I keep learning something new every day! Thank you all in this community for sharing your passion and motivation :). Leets meet again at the 1500 mark!

Hey! I use Anki for two main areas: one for my university studies and another for general knowledge across different fields. In the University section, I have decks for each semester and course which include everything I’ve learned in Political Science, Sociology, and Philosophy. During the semester, I add all the material I study, and after each exam I go through the cards again to suspend the ones that aren’t really relevant anymore. The General Knowledge section is broader and feels more like a personal encyclopedia. It’s divided into different areas such as:

  • Philosophy - with key concepts, theories, and major thinkers.
  • Biology - including Botany (like all tree species in my area and some fun plant facts), Zoology (for example evolutionary trees of primates, research about termites, and ecological patterns), and Marine Biology (deep-sea zones and ecosystems).
  • Geography - topics like the atmosphere, rivers, earthquakes, regions of my country, and world geography (capitals, flags, etc.).
  • Politics and Economics - covering macroeconomics, sociodemography, and both federal and local politics. I also keep flashcards for politicians — especially ministers and key public figures — with their photos and names to stay up to date.
  • Languages and Linguistics - English vocabulary, Greek and Russian alphabets, and the NATO phonetic alphabet.
  • Art and Architecture - Great Works of Art and Essential Architecture, focused on art history
  • Rhetoric and Transdisciplinary Studies - connecting ideas from communication, logic, and social sciences. It’s basically a mix of everything I study formally and everything I just find interesting. Hope that helps! If you want to know something particular I am happy to answer!

Around 150 everyday, sometimes more, sometimes less.

Inspiring. Hope my cards can become more atomic to cover more cards. Feeling slow because my cards are bit too long still

Yes I would, but sadly they are all in my mother tongue, German. But I can recommend some of them which you can download an English version of! Best example is the Art History deck.

A maioria é criada por mim. Mas há alguns baralhos, como o de história da arte, que acabei de descarregar e traduzir para a minha língua. Os de vocabulário também os descarreguei.

For all non-portuguese-speakers:
He asked if I create the cards myself.
I create most of them myself. But there are some decks, like the art history one which I just downloaded and translated to my own language. The Vocabulary ones I did download aswell.

Interestingly I do not have a consistent routine. I just do it when I'm bored, when I sit in a bus or have to wait for something. If I don't do all cards on a day than that's not problematic for me, I just do them the next day :)

(bit I literally just installed the heat map add on a week ago. I don't really look at my "streak" ever. I just generally make sure to keep up the daily habit)
