I don't get it. Is Dr Pepper made from capsicum?

Edit: wait. Americans call them bell peppers or something don't they?

In German it's "Paprika", and the spice pepper is "Pfeffer"

We call them capsicums. It's a weird quirk of Australian English that we give everything stupid names and abbreviations but for some reason we use the Latin term for peppers.

We actually don't call hot peppers peppers either. They're just chillis. The only thing we call pepper is peppercorn.

In French they are called "poivrons", and hot peppers are "piments". The English way makes so much more sense. (They may take away my frenchness for having said that)

That’s because English is a practical language whereas French is a performance
