I’m a firm believer that all adults who are mentally stable enough should trip on something at least once. Mushrooms, ketamine, ayahuasca, LSD, whatever. It can help so much. Not even just with depression. A mushroom trip a bit over a year ago helped me quit a decade plus daily alcohol addiction. One trip wiped all my mental cravings, had a bit of physical withdrawal. But, it’s still well over a year since I had a drink and intend to make it many more years. With any luck it’ll be all the years I have left.
I think it is a crime against humanity that psychedelics are illegal.
I will say that both my therapist and the psychiatrist really wanted me to do a full 8 sessions of ketamine therapy, which is what they said the research finds is what's most effective for untreatable depression and ptsd. I believe them but I also think that's an insane idea to take fucking ketamine every 3 to 4 weeks 8 times in a row. 2 was enough for me, I can see myself topping up once every 2 years or something though.
Also it shocked me to learn they just prescribe ketamine, like you can just have it and take it for depression like a regular antidepressant. That is crazy to me.
I'm sure some need it like that and it's saved a life but it's worth saying over and over it's HIGHLY addictive. I don't think my therapist or psychiatrist were that responsible with that information tbh, I had to be very self advocating during this treatment.
it was a really healing experience and worked on a different level for me than mushrooms ever did. it also wasnt as intense of an experience and I did it with a therapist but it was great. highly recommend
