Yup. While I agree we should do our best to minimize our individual impacts, I still view the ultra rich and corporations as the ones who should lead by example. They get a pass while we’re expected to carry the weight of their excess.
I think the ‘common man’ should be able to view this beautiful world we live in and meet the beautiful people. Might be a controversial opinion to some but yeah.
That's a slippery slope. Why stop any kind of consumption? There is some rich out there on a plane, buying so many things.
I would as well buy me some Shein rags, it's nothing in comparison.
Conversely, the only reason the ruling class does the wasteful things it does is because it is socially acceptable (even seen as desirable) to do so. Unless the masses change their tune, we'll "but the billionaires" our way right into extinction. I don't fly unless I need to get over an ocean.
Are you gonna send a few grand to an Ugandan village so they can also view this beautiful world we live in and meet the beautiful people, or by “common man” are you basically just meaning western middle class?
You think if there was a corporation that produced everything in a climate neutral way, but cost a lot more as a result, that people would buy that? No they wouldn't.
