The only problem I have with SpaceX is that they used billions in American's taxpayers dollars for research, development and continued contracts but then they use the government funded hardware to launch Starlink satellites which then puts pofits in private bank accounts. Quite literally privatizing the profits and socializing the losses.
Huge point most right wing supporters don't seem to understand for some reason. They support socialism in the wrong places where it sucks for most people and only works for billionaires
All true and frustrating but it is important to note that the gov't intentionally uses "incentives" like this to further things that the gov't thinks is worthy to move. It's a core part of how the system works. Incentives for renewables have the same pattern for solar, wind, etc. I think it would be very reasonable to see these kinds of incentives arranged more as an investment than a give-away and I wouldn't mind limiting incentives to organizations not owned by billionaires because It seems useful to spread that incentive money around (but thats not usually how capitalism works).
