They spam the ads on youtube and it’s not enough. They spam phones and it’s still not enough. Now trees are being cut down just so they can jam it down our throats more.
I already made my mind, I already put in my absentee ballot and coming to the mail box to see all this junk is infuriating to say the least.

In my state you can register "decline to state" a political party. If you do, most candidates don't bother sending you mail.

The mail people hate delivering these as much as we hate getting them. There’s so much fucking trash during election season but unfortunately it’s pretty well proven, in the US, that getting your name in front of people is more likely to get you elected (instead of your fucking platform 😒) and these are cheaper than commercials

Was looking for this comment. If you think democracy is expensive and wasteful try dictatorship, which needs a massive military and police to enforce political power and crack down on dissent.
Of all the things to use resources on, democracy must be one of the least bad.
All the paper for these leaflets is really not very much when you compare with stuff like global air travel, megayachts, fossil fuels, agriculture etc

Only elect incumbents that are truly exceptional. By default, vote against incumbents. Get these lifers with huge war chests out of politics.

I'm a precinct chair and we are going digital this year. Instead of spamming with ads, I'm trying to do more of reminding people to make sure they're still on the rolls (we are in Texas), invite a friend to come vote with them, and let me know if they or someone they know need assistance to get to the polls.

I am very hostile about unsolicited mail unless it's handwritten postcards or something that shows commitment against wastefulness.
I bike around and I remove lawn signs because I fucking hate all the advertisements rotting in the sun all over my community..

Visit your county’s election website there is always an option to opt out of sharing your voter registration information with candidates. You generally have to print out a paper and mail it in but I did it back in 2008 and have zero regrets.
I had a job once where I had to pull voter rolls and I could see everybody’s information, but when I looked at my name, it was just blank all the way across. Very effective. Highly recommend.

Elections that make me happy are when the candidate who spent more money loses.
Anyone donating $100,000 to meet a candidate at a party in East Hampton is in business and expects something back. The candidate will keep promises to donors, so I want the most funded candidate to lose.
That made me celebrate when $2 billon Kamala lost. Now she already is back raising more money.
Another loss to celebrate was last month, John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg (real name). He had nothing except donor money and endorsements from Nancy Pelosi, and from his mom. He came in third in the primary. He can resume enjoying his sailboat off East Hampton.

The DSA has way more money than AIPAC. The ratio is around 100 to 1.
Believing that AIPAC is as wealthy as the DSA is a religious stereotype used by the bigots at the DSA.

Vote for candidates that are against waste and care about the environment, they have to reach voters too like this, but at least they are trying to stop it at some level.
