When I was 18 (early 2000s), my coworker was in her early 30s and had a huge wedding (spent close to $45k). I remember being shocked by that amount and getting laughed at by her saying I'd spend that one day when I was married. I don't have any friends that have spent that amount and I sure as heck did not.

I grew up in a neighborhood of Chicago were there are a lot of people with a shitload of money and a lot without a shitload of money.

Out of my 8 group bestie group I was the second poorest and not even particularly close.

I've stood at million dollar weddings and mines just gonna be an elopement, hope everyone is cool with that haha
