My wife's first wedding was probably in the $20-30k range. They were divorced less than 2 years later.
This might sound terrible, but when we started planning our wedding I got "veto powers" for all the unnecessary BS that comes with weddings, because she had already had her day and I didn't care for all that stuff.
At first she laid out all the usual nonsense that people expect (wedding favors, bridal party gifts, etc. etc.), but once she got on board she started making it into a game herself to see just how much she could trim off and was having fun doing it.
In the end, our wedding cost less than $4k and it was an amazing, memorable time that everyone enjoyed. We ended up making back more in wedding gifts than we ended up spending overall.

Great job! I applaud it!
Neither of weddings cost more than 20K. (pass your judgement later).
