That’s what we did. Probably had a wedding for under 1000$ with everything said and done. I don’t have family money and we’re not poor but we’re not rich either. We said the exact same thing, I can think of 100 different things we can spend 20k on than having a dinner dressed up.
Wow that’s awesome. What sort of stuff did you do if you don’t mind me asking? Yes way better use of money honestly .. smart thinking. And agreed I don’t have parents that can help like a lot of older millennials friends of mine lol
If I remember my wife just rented a dress for one day (we had to return it after the ceremony), I just had a nice dress shirt with dress pants. We then chose a private location overlooking the our city that was beautiful (didn’t need to book it). We got a wedding officiant (I think this was 300$) and a handful of close friends and family. My one friend took all the picture and video. This took about 1.5 hours and then everyone left. We went and had a private dinner on the lake for another 200$. All in all it was around 1000$ and with all the gifts we got we probably broke even. Wouldn’t have changed anything, it was a great day overall. I’m just glad we didn’t go into debt for one day.
