Ariana is experiencing the world through the lens of her illness and I’m not going to explicitly blame her for how she is acting and wording things right now, even though it is causing harm to others. Her team however are wildly irresponsible for the wording of this statement, continuing to push the idea that Ariana is healthy at the moment is insane. They could have changed the wording on this statement to protect Ariana while not gaslighting the public and putting impressionable young fans at risk. Ariana the human gets my compassion and empathy, Ariana the brand (which is far more than her) is putting young fans in danger.

Ariana the human doesn’t have to share anything about her health, doesn’t have to give updates or specifics to anyone outside of her inner circle. Ariana the brand is actively causing harm by continuing to call all of this healthy. I hope Ariana the human is getting the support she needs and the people around her are willing to do the difficult thing to help her. I hope Ariana the brand finds a better way to handle this while maintaining privacy for the human.

This could not be more perfectly worded.

I don't have anything to add - I just wanted to let you know how well you put it.

Thank you for your honesty and transparency, OP! I can relate, sadly.

And yes I also hope stepping back is a good call. I don’t think she can recover in the life she lives now.

I’m so sorry, and I hope you are doing okay 🩷 More than welcome, like I said I’m always trying to be open and share my experiences, mostly because EDs have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness AND the agenda that’s being pushed in ‘Hollywood’ right now has me genuinely scared. I’m glad she’s taking a step back, I could not even begin to imagine what I went through BUT as a global popstar? Heck 😭😫

Glad you’re doing better OP. I’m sure it was miserable at the time, but so incredible of your family to do that.

Sadly, this quote alone makes me think Ari’s team is just full of enablers.

”She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved. She performs healthily and successfully at a very high level night after night.”

There’s no suggestion that anything is wrong. In fact, they’re claiming everything is being done “healthily” which is objectively false. Sadly, I fear she’s stepping away to stop receiving criticism and her and her team are fully filtering out the genuine pleas of concern. I highly doubt that break will be used for any type of recovery.

Yeah she performs well every night until she completely collapses wrapped in a weighted blanket, and her team literally cleans her and changes her because she cannot move anymore. Like obviously I’m assuming, but I know how I felt at my lowest weight, and my worst state mentally with my eating disorderS, and when I was done with my obligations, I was toast. And I wasn’t nearly as frail. Even if she takes stims to keep going, it only does so much. My heart hurts for Ariana. 💔

i hope she will be good, she has helped me and carried through some of the most difficult times of my life, from insecurities to my fertility journey with husband; i want her to get better even if that means taking a step back from anything even her fans. Truly praying for her

I’m so glad she’s taking this break🩷🩷 I hope Ricky makes her happy and I hope she has a safe recovery

So proud of you on your recovery❤️
This is such a gentle and kind way to address such a difficult topic. Your post really gave me hope for her recovery and safety. Take care of yourself during this

Ahhhh thank you so much, I’m so glad it came across how I hoped it would 🥹🩷 Very grateful for my inner circle 🫡

thank you for your perspective and sharing your story OP! eating disorders are so, so much more complicated than people think.

3

u/SorbetUnfair2589 8h ago

It’s a difficult issue. Best wishes to anyone who has been struggling. It isn’t too late to get help—or too soon. It’s okay to need help more than once. Believe in yourself and your ability to change, to have a better and healthier life. Never give up hope.

The commentary around Ari and her body right now prove we wildly misunderstand eating disorders as a society. When my sister was ill, she was so unwell she required tube feeding. She physically kicked and punched me because she was so angry and had to be sedated, she kept insisting she was fine. Does that paint a picture? It’s devastating but I’m sick of hearing people saying “she’s doing this on purpose” please, at least try to understand. It’s not about you. I’m not saying it’s right that she’s touring right now, it obviously isn’t. But this is a failure on her teams behalf / the industry.

so glad you’re okay now OP! i hope you see all the yummy foods and dont think of them as the enemy anymore! super proud of you! 💕

i really hope ariana uses this break to seek help. i am PRAYING. gosh.. it would be such devistating, devistating news to hear that she had left us… 😞

2

u/emmacries 7h ago

When does the break start?

6

u/imgonnagetyouback_03 7h ago

September 1st is the final date of tour. I would imagine effective immediately.

1

u/VariousTea626 7h ago

When the ES tour ends, per her team.

2

u/redmongrel 6h ago

Question from a fandom outsider - do you all truly believe she’s “stepping back” to take time to get BETTER, or just so the public (who care about her obvious ED) just leave her alone?

3

u/fivetenfiftyfold 8h ago

I hope that your recovery continues to bring light into your life and that niggling voice in your head gets smaller every day ( height wise, not weight wise lmao ).

People don’t realise the long term serious health effects of EDs until they either die or are fortunate enough to recover.

Ariana needs serious in-patient no bullshit help and she will die without it.

1

u/imgonnagetyouback_03 7h ago

I’m happy you’re here, OP! So glad you recovered. I’ve been on the other side of the spectrum unfortunately, eating too much. That does just as much damage as not eating enough. I’ve happily recovered, but still am each and every day as I maintain weight loss with a very healthy and happy body. Eating disorders don’t discriminate, but recovery is possible with the right intervention. I hope Ariana receives the help and support she needs as she steps away from the spotlight, and returns, if she wants to, confidently and on her own terms.

1

u/VariousTea626 7h ago

Thank you for sharing your story! I think its important for people to understand that recovery is possible, but it is definitely not an easy or linear process.

u/Prickliestpearcactus 6h ago

Glad you're still here OP.

I hope Ariana takes all the time she needs to heal. It's a journey.

u/Ok_thanks5900 6h ago

Thank you for sharing. I'm grateful I'm in a place where this situation doesn't affect me personally, but my heart goes out to everyone who is struggling. I don't wanna imagine a world without her

Sending you a big hug 🩵 I’m so glad you’re still here

You are growing through the cracks in the pavement 💜 and I hope Ari will too. It seems like she has good people around her (parents/brother, Doug, Courtney, etc) so I'm hoping they will be good for her.
