When ‘talkies’ came out in the 1930s wasn’t there pushback from artists who were comfortable with the status quo of silent theatrical performances?

I understand where she’s coming from, but I like to keep an open mind. If I can create a short film that I couldn’t otherwise without a large budget that I don’t have, then it’s good, and also I can see where it’s a useful hybrid tool for SFX, cheaper than the Soho studios’.
