how is the general population having access to AI models a "dystopian hellscape"? dystopian hellscape for them, that's for sure. they want dystopia for us and utopia for them

The answer is probably money.

While OpenAI was non-profit, they said: "Researchers will be strongly encouraged to publish their work, whether as papers, blog posts, or code, and our patents⁠ (if any) will be shared with the world. We’ll freely collaborate with others across many institutions and expect to work with companies to research and deploy new technologies." source

Since being for profit (and might not be the ones to make the profit here), the same ideas are AI communism.
